Chanting SATNAAM

Namaste Harjit ji,
Thank-you for your inspiring e-mail. I will remember your wise advice. To answer your question about how I am chanting, I am chanting silently while moving my lips and tongue, as this has been the directive of my Guru for some time now. This is the stage that I am ready for according to my Guru. Can you please briefly explain to me again what method of chanting/meditation on the NAAM brings the greatest effects? I was a bit uncertain about what you wrote. Can you please tell me how one meditates or chants NAAM that will bring it into the heart chakra? I was hoping you could just clarify that point for me. Thank-you for all your kindness and wisdom. I will always bow at your lotus feet. You have blessed me so much and you are a great servant of God. You are doing great work and you are very inspiring. PEACE.

SatNaam Kurt Ji,
Dandauth Bandhna ji,

its not really in our control to do naam simran in our hirdha, if we try to force it, then we fail because  it is ego that is trying to make it happen.  Then that is like banging your head on a closed door, leading to frustration at why the door opens for others but not for us.  Which then can lead to giving up even trying.    But even in that expereince of trying to do simran in the heart there is DUKH (pain) which is a lesson from the Master (SatNaam).  And what is that lesson?  As Guru Nanak Dev ji writes in JapJi -"No power to speak, no power to stay silent. No power to ask , no power to give.  No power to live, no power to die.  No power to rule which causes problems in the mind.  No power to contemplate divine wisdom.  The One who has the Power in His hand, is doing and watching everything.  Nanak says: no one is low or high."

Guru Nanak Dev ji is telling us our ego that it has no power to do anything at all.

So we are all reaping what we have sown, we are surrounded by people and problems/gifts as per our past deeds.  There is
no use of our ego complaining or wishing for things to be different.

But there is hope, there is one way to breakthrough and that it to become a beggar at God's door.  To go with pressed palms and to do our prayer for the depths of our heart.  To say to our Divine Guru (as all our prayers go through him to God), that "My Dear Satguru, other than you I have no-one.  I am a foolish idiot who has come to your sanctuary. Grant me your Grace and unite me with God." - Guru Arjun Dev ji (meray satguraa ma tujh bin avar na koee. hum moorakh mugadh sarnaagati, kar kirpa milay har soee."

It is by becomnig a beggar 24hrs a day, and doing ardas like this, constnt humble prayers at the Guru's feet within your heart, that one day He showers His mercy and moves tha Naam around our pyschic centres (chakars) as and when we are ready.  It is our heartfelt humblness and love that moves God to bless us.

Please read the following article which explains in detail how to do simran.  And there is a beautiful ardas within it by Dassan Dass ji that we can do all day long.  Try it and see what happens .

Consequences of Slandering Anyone Especially A Sant

FROM DASSAN DASS Ji:

=======================

Satnaam Sangat Jee,

here is something to share with you.

We will suggest the Sangat stays focused on this issue of Sant Ki Nindya – or any kind of Nindya of anybody on a continuous basis to educate the Sangat, everyone does some kind of Nindya on a daily basis, it may be Nindya of a Sant, or may be a Nindya of co-workers, Nindya of family members, friends or known and unknown persons.

Slandering anybody is very very dangerous and brings you down very drastically. Doing Sant Ki Nindya is very very dangerous, there is a punishment for indefinite number of generations for those who do Sant Ki Nindya. All the people who are suffering with chronic ailments and or terminal ailments and serious issues in their present life have done Sant Ki Nindya at some point of time in their current life as well as in their past lives. This is the only reason why they have been punished and are contininually being punished and will continue to be so until they start realizing this truth and start asking for forgiveness.

For some, like X and his family, it is their good fortune that has brought this to the surface and now they are working to correct it (NOTE: in one side their family there are many people with mental and physical problems, so in Samadhi they found out their ancestor had slandered a Sant very badly and now their descendents were all still suffering, they prayed for forgiveness and Baba ji also interceded), but for most people, who continue to suffer with these kinds of uncurable ailments are very unfortunate, because they engage themselves in all kinds of medical treatments, which don't work and they instead of being blessed to realize the root cause of the issue, continue to blame God for their own Karni.

Therefore, the big lesson to be learned is not to speak any word that is negative in nature and will hurt yourself the most.

SLANDERING OF A SANT IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS,

ITS REPERCUSSIONS  AND PUNISHMENTS ARE VERY CLEARLY PRESENTED IN THE 13TH ASHTPADI OF SUKHMANI SAHIB

– SO PLEASE READ IT AND CONTINUE TO READ IT UNTIL YOU STOP ALTOGETHER

ANY KIND OF SLANDERING

OF ANY BODY

LIVE OR DEAD.

Baba Ji forgives but the Nindak doesn't stop, so his suffering doesn't end, so until his mind is cleaned up, the forgiveness will not work for him, his new slandering after forgiveness will continue to make him suffer and the sufferings will be even more and more severe. Therefore, cleansing of slanderer's mind is very important and critical. If at all you want to slander, slander your ownself, that kind of a slandering will bring you closer to the Almighty, but slandering anybody else will open up all kinds of channels of trouble for you for an indefinite period of time. So think before you speak, keep a control on your tounge and mind and don't think in slandering mode and do not act in slandering mode.

Dandauth Bandhna ji,
God bless You and your family at this time especially.
Soul never dies.
And remember when you see those around you who are sad, that only Maya cries.
Only Moh cries when it loses something.
But nothing is ours and nothing ever will be ours.
Only Naam is the real treasure.

Dandauth Bandhana Sat Sangat Jee,

With Hukam of Dhan Dhan Paar Braham Parmeshar Ji, my uncle soul has left the body. Actually, he was declared dead when I mentioned this on Friday, however he was placed on life-support machine as a hope, but there was no chance because the infinite divine power had left the body already.

But with the prayers of all the sat sangat and all the rest of the people, with the unlimited kirpa of SatGuru Baba Ji, his soul was blessed and now his soul will be born as my son in this world. I felt this when I did naam simran in the hospital but I wasnt sure because most of the time our minds talk over God which causes a lot of confusion but then I rang Baba Ji and said that I'd felt this and if it was true or not and he said it was true.

But SatGuru Ji has taught me to have no attachment to anybody, all is one, Ekonkaar satnaam, we are all part of paar brahm parmeshar and have one relationship of Naam and that is it. For me now, he's just another soul, and under the play of paar brahm parmeshar he has decided to put this soul into my son (all karmic plays I guess)

So hopefully he does his bandgi when he comes back and reaches the ultimate which is the goal of each and every jeev in this universe.

So, I would like to thank all of you, thank satguru pittaa ji, all in one and one in all, for all his kirpa over this soul. I guess he was lucky that Baba Ji knew about this and sangat which has cleared his path for the future.

May I stay content and accept the hukam of when it happens to my mum and worldly father or my worldly partner when they pass away and May Satguru ji give me the strength to stay under hukam at all times and not lose it. It can only happen with his own infinite strength

I am nothing, I do nothing, You are the infinite divine power, everything belongs to you, we are just your humble children who are living in ignorance and continue to play at the hands of maya and we ask for forgiveness that you forgive us for our mistakes and transform us into sant hirda and make us live under puran hukam

God bless you all with jivan mukti

Depression - Walking Through The Valley Of Death

Severe Problem
Posted by: Luke
Thu Mar 4, 2010 7:09 pm (PST)

I'm not too sure what to say, or what could be said in responce,

but it's been over 4 years now, from the age of 16 to almost 21
that i havn't slept properly, havn't been able to cry, release any stress/emotion.

have become more and more detatched and completelty worn out and exhausted, with intolerable headaches and struggeling.

it makes me feel sick to see life slip by. unengaged.

i've done everything i feel i can, tried every therapy, tried to get my life back on track.

doctors have diagnosed it as psychosis but its a broad term.

but i admit it started with psychedelic drug use, not much but a few times, (mainly one nasty trip). (aged 16)

i know drug use has no place in yoga, and quickly realised yoga was what i was looking for in psychedelics anyway.

and 2 years ago drinking ayahuasca, which furthered problems.

i'm only really writing this, as before i use to find yoga helpful, but today i attended a class and even though i found some mild benefits, i found myself more detatched than ever, and unable to connect with anything, rythem, breathing, sensations and no concentration.

the best way i can compare it is the part of you thats wants to dance when you hear music, but not begin able to move with it, and it's moving further away.

i'm just worried im becoming completely swallowed by this, coming to a place i might never come back from.

i havn't really said much about it for at least a year or two hoping it was just after affects of ayahuasca or that'd it'd heal itself in time.

but constantly getting overwhlemed by frustration and anger.

burning out and exhausted, not to mention a long list of syptoms from severe insomnia, acute distress, migraines and dissociation.

i find the frustration mainly stems from lack of perspective, i'v never encountered a problem i've been completely disabled by capable of handeling or understanding what to do, it's really taking its toll on all areas of my life and my personality.

SatNaam - (SAT) Eternal Truth is The (NAAM) Infinite Divine Power.

Dandauth Bandhna - please accept our prostration greeting at your feet.

Dear Luke,

thankyou for your email on the kundalini forum, we feel for you. This is the beginning of your journey to Truth in this life. All pain is medicine for us to wake us up out of the illusion and make us ask why am I in pain? What is the Truth? Only good is going to come out of what you are going through. First of all you will see through the illusion of false life, then with blessings you will be remade in Truth.

All pain we suffer is due to our past deeds, past of this life or more likely in your past lives. Some things the doctors and yoga and lifestyle changes can fix, others only a blessed soul can fix.

Baba ji (my guru) explained that depression is when your soul has to walk through the

valley of death due to the attrocities you have committed in the past. The number of days

you have to suffer is exactly according to what you have sown in the past.

This is how the LAW OF KARMA plays out. This is why we are reborn, to pay our dues, before we can go back to the Source - Sat Naam, the Truth.

The only way to reduce our karma is through the grace of the divine soul that you are destined to meet.

Through His/Her blessings, our Karma account is reduced,

when He blesses us wuth the Grace, the Eternal blessings of Naam,

he takes on board all our pain, and lifts us up with the divine Light.

Without a Guru like is just walking through the valley of death.

With the Guru's blessings, we are given wings, which we call Naam, Sat Naam.

But in the meantime, please start praying to God-Guru every day, all the time and pray for forgiveness

for whatever it is that you have done in the past/past life which you are having to suffer for now.

As soon as we ask for forgivness we are forgiven, God-Guru is that kind.

You days in the valley of death will be reduced even faster when you find your Guru

and start doing Naam simran (meditation on Naam) , that is the only way to wipe

millions of sins clear.

God-Guru Bless you always and forever to meet your God-Guru and be blessed with the Naam.

Feel free to email us.

Harjit

Dear Luke,

For the last 2-3 years, I've felt just like you described. Completely detached, emotionless, no motivation at all to do anything. There was no love, no compassion for anyone. I barely spoke to anyone, even my family. I used to spend weekends lying on bed and getting depressed. I was irrirated by every little thing.

Harjit Ji is right. See it as a cleansing process. Most importantly, there is only one thing that will help: praying. Nothing else will help as much and as quickly as a prayer. I found it difficult even praying sometimes, but even one prayer in a day is enough and will help you build up strength to pray more and more.

With infinite blessings, I finally came out of this darkness and it happened amazingly quick - within one day. It was like a light bulb was turned on inside me and darkness went away in a click. It is only getting better and better now.

Please keep praying and ask for forgiveness.

You will come out of it.

Many many thanks,

Supreet

What happens to the Sant who give you Naam?

Ik Oankaar SatNaam SatGurParsaad.
Dandauth Bandhna Ji

many people ask what happens when the Sant-SatGuru showers us with the Eternal Blessings of Naam (GurParsaadi Naam)? And people think that they can read Gurbani and just start chanting any Name of God.  But Baba ji said you wont get very far by doing that - trying to do it by yourself and ignoring the instruction right at the begging of Gurbani which is "GUR PARSAAD".

Here is something Dassan Dass ji (who is authorised to bless souls with GurParsaaadi Naam) wrote about it:

"When a Sant (by a Sant we mean the entity who is a merged in Akal Purakh and has reached the Param Padvi, who is a Puran Braham Gyani, who is a Satguru and authorized by the Akal Purakh to give Gur Parsaad to the Sangat) gives Naam Ki Daat, Amrit Ki Daat and Bandgi Ki Daat to His Sangat, He takes the full and complete responsibility of them, He becomes your lawyer in the Court of Akal Purakh and stands to save you and take you through your Bandgi and eventually get you Jivan Mukti, by doing so He takes the responsibility for your complete cleansing of all the mental sicknesses, during this process He has to take all your mental sicknesses on Himself in order to cure you completely, same way many a times for people with chronic diseases He has to take such other sicknesses as well to keep you healthy and going, and even more importantly all the prayers you perform – Ardaas, also goes through Him, so He has to bear all this pain while you progress through your Bandgi, and bearing all this pain is not easy, it takes a lot for Him to keep up and help His Sangat through this very slippery, very difficult passage to the Sach Khand. Such a Sant remains with you all the times in His Astral Body and protects you from all the negative forces on a continuous basis until you are yourself ready to fight with these forces of your own. Thus such a Sant delivers and serves the Eternal Truth in the true sense by bringing salvation to His Sangat and renders the highest service to the Almighty: Dhan Dhan Dhan Jan Aayeaa Jis Parsaad Sabh Jagat Traayeaa. Considering this pain bearing job needed to deliver and serve the Almighty with this highest service, most Sants restrain from doing so and only give Gur Parsaad to a very few of their disciples or none, and mostly remain engaged in the activities listed under reason number 1 above just to get fame and wealth."

a question about pronouniciation of word Satnaam

the actual words are separate i.e. SAT = ETERNAL TRUTH   & NAAM.

However, most people have got in habit of saying it as one word "Satnaam".

And when they chant or sing it it becomes "Sat-a-naam".

The Kundalini Yogi Sikhs  also have a mantra "Sa-ta-na-ma".

Dassan Dass ji said to somone its ok however you pronounce it and not to get too bogged down in pronounciation details.

Its actually the GurParsaad, the Eternal Blessings that are attached to the word SatNaam, that is the key.  And you have those blessings, so however you pronounce it , as long as it is with your true heart, full of love and devotion , is going to take you back to the Source, the Eternal Truth, the SAT.

Also Baba ji said people of other languages are free to use their own word for SAT i..e in english we could just meditate upon the word "Truth", or muslims can use the word "Haq" which also means Truth.

So its all about having been givine the Eternal Blessings, the gurParsaad by a blessed divine soul, that ignites it.

Are you dominating your kids? Were you dominated?

SatNaam Ji,
Dandauth Bandhna Ji

Baba ji often states that parents try and dominate their kids and by doing so dont let them live their heart.
How can you recognise if you are doing that to your kids?

Here is a very insightful article about the way we talk to our children in order to control them and effectively
we teach them to find answers from the opinions of their parents, peers and others, rather than
having the confidence to look within and trusting how they feel about something.

This morning we saw a father absolutely destroying his 7 year old son on the way to school.  The
child "Jack" had dropped his glove, so they had to walk back to find it.  The father took out his anger on the poor kid,
"YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN WEARING IT LIKE I TOLD YOU."

Then as they marched back, Jack had his head hung low and was walking slowly, "HURRY UP, YOU ARE MAKING US LATE."

Then when the found the glove on the pavement, "YOUR ALWAYS DOING THIS."

Then as I apporached them, the child didnt notice me and I walked around him as he had his head lung low.  That gave the father another excuse
"WHATS THE MATTER WITH YOU , ALWAYS LOOKING DOWN."

Then I looked back and the father crouched down next to his son and grabbed his coat and shouted, "YOU NEED TO SORT YOURSELF OUT JACK,
NOW STAY WITH ME AND WALK TO SCHOOL."

At which the poor kid burst out in tears and I could hear him crying loudly as he ran away from his Dad.

I am sure I have been like this with our own kids at time, it really makes me sick of my own behaviour in the past,
we prayed for poor Jack that Baba ji bless him and his father with understanding.

If you read the following article you will be surprised at how negative , controlling and demanding and crushing we are ouf our kids hearts.
See how many of the phrases used by parents you can relate to.  See how many phrases you remember hearing as you grew up.
If you lack self belief in your own heart and are always looking for others to know what to think, then you have been brought up in the same way by your parents,
elders and perhaps religion as well.

God bless us all to break the cycle.  To see God in the child.

Re: a question

Namaste Ji
SatNaam Ji,

we had similar problems, we always loved guru Nanak dev ji in particular and ten Gurus,
so found it difficult to place Dassan Dass Ji and laso Baba ji in my mind.
Also within sikhism we were always confused as to who our guru was, as they teach you its
the Guru Granth Sahib ji, but then people call upon individual Gurus eg Baba Nanak as well.
And others love their Sants as Gurus as well.

But now with guru Ji's kindness we have realised it is so very simple.  And Baba ji says
it too that God is simplicity, maya is complexity.  So anytime we have these kind of confusions
in our mind just recognise that the root is maya.  Maya is confusing us.
Its very simple Kurt ji, its so simple you will laugh.  There is only One Guru and that is God.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji says it too, and I used to read it everyday twice a day and still didn;t get it.
"Aad ant ekay avtaraa. soee guru samjio hamaraa."
The One who pervades from primal begininning to unknown end.
Understand that that One is my Guru.   ...Chaupai.

God is the only Guru.

However, He is Formless.   He is Pure Divine Light (Jyot/Parkaash).  He is Pure divine Wisdom (Gyan/Shabad).  Dassan Dass ji
refers to God in this state as "Gur".

So we in human body are part of the Creation, praying to Him, the Creator.
We are of Form, He is Formless.
So how can the two meet?
How can we communicate when the senses we have only recognise this world of maya (anything that has shape, form etc is part of Maya)?

The Formless One needs a heart - not biological, but spiritual heart chakra called the Hirdha.

The Hirdha that has bloomed is where the Divine Light, the Formless One, has manifested within the Creation.

And Baba Ji says that is the closest God comes to entering His Creation, as a manifested Jyot (pargatio Jyot).

So that manifesteddivine light (pargatio jyot) within a Hirdha , the Formless One, the One Guru.  Dassan Dass Ji refers
to God manifested within the heart as GURU.

So how does it play out in your life?

You are praying from your heart to God.  One day your sincere prayers pierce through and God hears them.
You are not yet in tune with your own soul (Jyot) as it is buried under the layers of your karma.  And until we clear all
of our past deeds, clear our karma, we cant go back into the Jyot.  so we cant hear the intuition, the answer fro God within our
self.  So what does God, the Gur, do to answer our prayer?  He sends (according to our great good destiny (bhaag) us to the nearest GURU.  The One within whom HE is fully manifested.  The One within whom He is in control and speaking through.

That one on the outside may not be what we thought a God person should be like, maybe a woman when we were expecting a guru to be male. Maybe Hindu when we were from a Christian background, maybe a warrior when we were expecting a Guru to be
like Mother Teresa.  But God only operates from the inside realm.  He doesn't care about what we were expecting according to our
minds belief system.  He only deals heart to heart and sends you to the nearest one within whom He is fully manifested according to your destiny.  What does that mean?

Baba ji said no Guru every saved the whole world even though the followers may like to believe it eg Christians think Jesus is going to save everyone, Mulsims the same about Mohammed.  Baba ji said each manifested soul (pargatio jyot) only saves the souls that are connected to him due to past Karma.  Baba Ji said that only those can come to him upon whom Baba Ji's name is written on their forehead - means the have past karma, past connection with Baba ji.   Baba ji told us that we were his brother in a past life.
Dasssan Dass ji told us we were sisters in a past life. And in the same way you are with your Hindu Guru because you have past life connection with him.  And you have come to Dassan Dass Ji becuase you have past life connection there too.

The beauty is that this is a journey of your soul and at different times you will meet the one who can help you at that time.  God will come to you as Guru within the person who can help you at each particular stage of your life.  when you needed it God came to you as your Hindu Guru.  When you needed it, God came to you as Dassan Dass Ji.   Under Maya, we think they are different Gurus and which one should we love. But under dinve law, its the same God, the same GUR.  So its very simple ji.  There is only one GUR, but He takes many bodies form.  Guru Nanak Dev ji says it simply, "Gur Gur Eko ves anek" - The Gur is One, His forms are many.

I was very confused about this during my sikh life as to which holy man to believe, Baba ji told us "you did not recognise God in
each of them."   Even though on the outside they may appear different and have different teachings, but inside they are the One Guru - God.

On a practical note, what we do now is focus on Baba Jis feet, and say in you Baba Ji is the ten Gurus, Dassan Dass Ji, all Bhagts , all Gurus and saints.  We bow to them all. Baba Ji has taught us to bow to everyone who has helped us on our journey, even our slanderers.

You can do the same, bow to your Guru and in his feet bow to all the ones who have helped you.

Baba Ji also said he has not come to change anyones religion. He just says "come and get the Eternally Blessed Naam and carry on doing what you are doing."  so if you are going to mandir, mosque or Gurdwara or church, just get the Naam and go to those place and do your naam simran.  Meaning go withni, surrender within in, then all your relgious efforts are useful.  but without Naam, all religious efforts are like churning water hoping to get butter.

Hpe yo dont mind, but we have forwarded this message to the group as well to hlep others who may have similar questions.

GUR GUR EKO VES ANEK- THERE IS ONLY ONE GUR, HIS FORMS ARE MANY.

I have a question that I was hoping you could help me with. You mentioned in your e-mail to continually praise my Guru, etc.. This is very wise advice , but now I have a troubling question. My Hindu Guru is of course my Guru that I am tied to for life and I am certainly very happy for this. But it was Dassan Dass ji that told me that I was ready to meditate on SATNAAM. So of course I owe Him gratitude and reverence every day for this great gift. However, a person cannot have two different Gurus. I must, of course consider my Hindu Guru to be my Guru, however, I realize that I am forever indebted to Dassan Das ji. So do you agree that it is my Hindu Guru to whom I must forever be devoted to, and that a good way to honor Dassan Das ji for His great gift would be to prostrate in gratitiude to him every day and thank him daily in my prayers? I hope you can see my predicament that I cannot abandon my Hindu Guru for another Guru, however I still need to honor Dassan Das ji in a special way. Any suggestions to help me would be very much appreciated. Harjit ji, I long for the day that I can be as devoted a servant of God as you are. PEACE.
