Re: Death and Michael Jackson

Sat Naam ji,

we do not know what all those hindu cereomies involv or what they mean.

All we can say is that we have learned that our own body is the true Mandir and havnig love for Sat Naam in our heart
is the true pooja and the whole universe is doing aarti of that One.

Everything people are doing is all ritual and maya, wether sitting at work , cutting a birthday cake, doing a naming cermony or birth ceremony
or whatever, so where will you go to get away from it?  you can go to the lotus feet of a sant-guru and adopt a new lifestyle if that is what you feel is right.
Or whilst you are under the roof of your parents you can tell them you will not be joingnig in those ceremonies and face the consequences ( we ahve done tat before - didnt give us any peace though),  or you can just decide that for you God is everywhere in everyone and all you need to do is to stay humble and do satnaam in your heart in ALL circumstances.  They can be donig pooja or arti focused on their won desires and wants and lesser gods.  You can be sitting there or anywhere with eyes closed doing pooja and aarti of Ik Oankaar Sat Naam who is making the whole universe spin in celebration.

Its all about what your state of mind is in any situation, its all about how much love is in your heart for God in one and all at any moment.  Its nothing to do with where you are standing or what people are doing around you.

Do you get it?

Thanks

Harjit

Sat Naam Harjit ji,

What about after pooja and they offer arathi? Can we accept it?

Sorry to trouble you with such questions..I have lived away from my family for 5 years and I do not know how to go about this

We asked baba ji once what we should do if we go to a mandir, should we bow out of respect?
Baba ji said to us to understand what bowing meant.  Bowing to a statue or a book or a tomb etc
is really saying we accept this belief system.  We are not bowign to God, but to an ideology.
so Baba ji said whilst they bow to their belief system, you bow to their soul - which is the livnig light of God.

We bow to Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji because those words are the words of Truth, so are called Gyan guru - Guru of Divne Wisdom
and are our teacher.  We bow to the enlighted souls, because God is shining bright in their heart.  We bow to the light (soul)
in all living beings.  We pray to become the dust of their feet, to become a servant of all livnig beings in the entire universe.

Meeting people and familiy and livnig your life is all part of your karma - part of your paying your dues and reciving what is yours.
We cant run away from that.  So whilst donig that we need to focus on doing truthful deeds, to cut down completely bad deeds and bad thoughts.
We need to keep Truth ni our hear at all times "sat naam satnaam" wether in a mandir or mosque or wherever.

Pritam Anand ji went to India and his friend took him to a muslm pir's tomb, his friend bowed and asked why Primtan Anand ji did not, to whch Pritam Anand Ji replied, "it is your desinty to bow here, not mine, we only bow to Truth."

So whilst being part of your family and frends circle is part of your karma, bowing to Truth is your destiny and worshipping Truth is your destiny, nothing less than that.  They may get to gether for rituals and ceremonies, that is their destiny.  Your destiny is to bow to the living light of God in them and to serve and become the dust of everyones feet and to tell the Truth if asked and to worship nothing less than Truth.

God is true and beautiful, all shiva brahma and vishnu, all devi-devtas and all beings worship Him alone, so why worship the created ones instead of the Creator?

Respect works both ways, you can accept that is thier destiny to do those rituals of the created beings, and they ahve to accept that is your destiny to only worship the Creator in your heart. Baba ji always told us to tell the truth to our parents and everyone.  But its diffcult if it gets into offending them.  So always pray "baba jiyou come onto my tongue and you speak" then tell the truth.

Look at all the stories of guru nanak dev ji and how he dealt with kindness with people doing rituals and ceremonies of anything less than Truth.  Baab ji said we have to live those stories in our life, then it becomes our personal wisdom.

We are not asking you to have arguments or conflicts in your house, but adopt an attitude of "live and let live", and "give and take", you can serve and be helpful but not worship devi-devtaas, instead you keep your mind focused on Sat Naam and the dust of everyones feet.

SatNaam Harjit ji,

I have been following this path of SatNaam but my family doesn't and I come from a traditional hindu lineage.

They pray to the Dev-Devtas and they expect me to participate in their rituals and ceremonies. I did object sometime back and it did create a lot of family conflict. As a result, I left the house. But now after doing Naam Simran, I was told by my intuition to return home. It is no problem, but I will need to participate in their rituals again.

Will this be ok...?

Please advise

Then sit inmeditation and imagine your Gurus feet and wash them in your heart.  Then when you feel lots of love, imagine the feet of your family and friends and wash them with love, and then imagine the feet of people who are not so friednly with you(enemies) and wash their feet as well util you feel love.   Washing their feet keep reciting "Haumai nahee tuhee tu" no ego only you ..and you keep doing it until you only see your gurus feet in everyones feet.  Its only ego that makes us think we are separate from others, when there is no ego we see God inside us and God inside everyone - all becomes one - ik drisht .

If you follow it , it will benefit you and everyone around you.  Although at the time it may cause many arguments or
problems for you.  Eg you maybe living a nice cosy life, but actually under fear and control of the family.  but the inner
voice may want you to go and do something truthful which the family will not like, so it will cause problems.
If you ignore the inner command you will feel uncomfortable with yourself , it will keep bugging you day after day.
If you follow it it will cause arguments with the people who will lose control over you.  but in the end they benefit because
your relationships are reformed on an equal basis.

The inner voice is not to be confused with desire, when you get excited about doing something which is just really fulfilling your own deep down desires.  You know its desires because each desire has dukh (pain) attached to it as well.  so close your eyes, notice how you are feeling.  If your mind is excited to chaase after maya then its desire.  If your mind is troubled and unsettled about a situation then it is maya.  Compare your state of mind to a time when you were operating under the grace of Naam (GurParsaadi Naam) then your mind was peaceful, then it felt like all your taks were being fulfilled but without you getting overexcited or frustrated by hopes and wishes.

So always look within and notice your state of mind, that tells you the Truth.

And as time goes on you will recognise the difference between intuition - the voice of your Inner Eternal Guru, and the voice of Maya and desires.   You will make the wrong choices but that also is part of the leanring process to fine tune your ability to hone into the inner voice.

Thanks for asking.

Good day Harjit Ji,

I was just reading your article below and would like to humbly ask a question

I have just started doing Naam Simran in the last couple of months and following your instructions.

Now I hear a voice in my Hirda which sometimes guides me. How do you know that the advice that comes from your intuition is really your intuition or something surrounding you that is influencing your thoughts?

Please help as I do not want to make any mistake and sometimes unsure whether it is my intuition or my surrounding thoughts that is guiding me

How do you talk to your children?

Sat Naam

These statistics make you realise why we have so many issues between parents and kids rebelling.  When we do naam simran and follow our guru's wisdom in our life all of our relationships become loving.  However under maya the following applies:

The average child receives 432 negative comments per day versus 32 positive ones.

The average child in America receives only 12.5 minutes per day in communications with their parents/caretakers.

Of that time 8.5 minutes are spent correcting, criticizing or arguing, leaving a whopping 4 minutes per day for the instruction of values, morals, ethics, attitude and self esteem.

You were once this child.

You also lived a life of abuse, so where do you stand?

http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/Baker4.html - This article is about victim mentality which alot of Sikh people seem to suffer with - blaming others and not taking responsibility for their own actions.

The Wrong Way is The Long Way

Sat Naam ji

all we meant was that even when we make mistakes not to feel so bad about it because what we learn from our mistakes helps us just as much as anything.

For example a baby tries to walk, it does it wrongly falls over, leanrs from its mistakes and gets up.

All we mean is even what we think is "wrong" is actually how things are meant to be as well and is just as valuable in our evolution through lower consciousness to good and then god /truth consciousness.

All karma really means is choices.  Rather than saying we made the wrong choice or right choice its more true to say that we made the "long" choice to get to god or the short choice.

Baba ji said to the one who drinks baba ji will say drinking is not good so give it up, but some can just give it up, others cant.  so baba ji said "I say to the one who doesnt want to give up drink to drink so much and to keep drinking so much until they have had enough of it and finally from within them they say "God I dont want to drink anymore". So when that person fianlly does give up drinking because they saw the hell of it, they will NEVER ever be tempted by drink every again on the path to God.

So nothing is WRONG, just a LONGER way to get to God.  Its all down to choices - our karma.

In the beginning when we are lost in the thoughts of the mind, then knowing what is good and bad helps us to to start doing good deeds and refrain from bad deeds.  But its no good if we start judging ourself and others by these standards, we or others do something "good" and our ego gets boosted.  We or others do something seemingly "bad" and we judge ourselves or them and ego feels terrible.

Baba ji said "teach your kids difference between wrong and right, but also accept that their KARMA OVERRULES EVERYTHING."
And that is the only way to uncondistional love, to be be patient with everyone even when they seem to be doing "wrong" behaviour - its something they have to go thru, just like the child learning to walk, just like the drunk drinking himself to death, just like the criminal having to spend time in jail and so on.

Hope that makes sense.

 Please help

Re: Death and Michael Jackson

PS also , we wrote that "you will make wrong choices"  however in reality there are no wrong choices either, so dont feel bad about it.  All it means is we end up taking a longer route to our destination - Truth.  If we keep following the inner Eternal guru we go on the fast-track to Truth.  If we ignore it then we go on the slow-track through the scum of Maya.  But whatever path we end up going down is ultimately as it was meant to be - Hukam.  At any time we can pray and say "Dear Satguru ji, please forgive us for our mistakes, we dont want to go through the scum of maya again and again.  Please dont forget about me for I am your servant- mohi na visaro ji ma junn tera."

Will try my best and let you know should I face any uncertainties

The Lord has been so kind to give me the grace to write to you

 Thank you again and Sangat

Good day Harjit Ji,

I was just reading your article below and would like to humbly ask a question

I have just started doing Naam Simran in the last couple of months and following your instructions.

Now I hear a voice in my Hirda which sometimes guides me. How do you know that the advice that comes from your intuition is really your intuition or something surrounding you that is influencing your thoughts?

Please help as I do not want to make any mistake and sometimes unsure whether it is my intuition or my surrounding thoughts that is guiding me

The Art of Relaxation - Yoga Nidra

Sat Naam
This is a nice way to relax - we often do it after simran or after yoga.  Obviously you can adapt it eg recite Sat as you breathe in and Naam as you breathe out.  And for the Resolve you can do your ardas "Please guru ji fill me with love of your lotus feet."  Let us know how it goes!

JUMP FOR MY LOVE

Sat Naam Sat Guru Sat Sangat Ji,
Plese accept our Dandauth Bandhana at your holy feet.

There is a beautiful story that really inpsired us years ago when our mother told us it.

The Hindus saint Tulsi Das , the writer of the Ramayan, was a thirsty soul.  One day he
was taking a bag of money to the bank.   Along the way he saw the head man of the village up in a tree.
He looked stressed.  Tulsi Das ji asked, "Are you OK?"  He replied, "I am in a dilema about wether to jump or not."
Tulsi Das asked him why he was thinking of jumping to which the head man replied, "Well I went to see
the holy man and asked him to bless me with the vison of our beloved Ram(God-Guru).  He told me all I had to
do was climb this tree, pray to Ram to catch me and jump off with full faith.  But now I can't do it."

Tulsi Das replied, "Well sir, if you don't want to jump I will do an exchange with you.  I will give you this
bag of gold coins and you give me the blessing."

At that the headman breathed a huge sigh of relief and quickly climbed down before Tulsi Das changed his mind.

Tulsi Das climbed the tree, did his prayer and jumped for the love of his beloved Ram.  And the spirit of Ram caught him
in arms of love.

Wether this story is 100% true or not, it does show the on the spiritual path we have to take a LEAP OF FAITH.
There comes a point when we have to really go for it, to get up early , to do our amritvela, to give up hopes and wishes for maya ,
to pray with love "Dear Satguru Ji, may we really go for it, may we sacrifice mind , body and wealth for your love."
As Baba ji says, "May we jump into the Ocean of YOU and wether we drown or are ferried across is upto YOU, but we
are jumping into the Ocean of YOU."

There is another story we read whilst waiting at a train station in India.  A man came to see a saint and asked for the vision of God.
The saint took him to the horse trough whcih was full of water and pushed the man's head under the water.  The man started
struggling and the saint let him up asking him, "How did you feel?"  And the man replied, "I felt i was going to die without a gulp of air."
The saint replied, "when you feel like that about God, it wont be long before God comes to you."

There are times with guru ji's kirpa that we have JUMPED and felt like we are going to die without God and at those times our bhagti has gone right to God.
So these stories of the saints are 100% true.  Trouble is that a foolish and stubborn head like me gets back into his comfort zone and doesn't want to die.
Please forgive us, bless us with single-mindedness Satguru ji.

Re: [Truth] In the realm of Grace your WORDS have power.

Satnaam veer ji,
in the beginning we were so enthusiasatic at finding Dassan Dass ji and baba ji
we were just telling our parents and everyone (including from the gurdwara stage playing SATNAAM SATNAAM CD) about the divine meaning of the gyan and that we had found the ones that sukhmani is describing.  We thought they would be excited as we were.  But just like when Makhan Shah Labana climbed the rooftop in his enthusiasm and started telling everyone he had found the ninth Guru "Guru Ladho re, guru ladho reh" not everyone agrees.   And then Guru Tegh bahadur ji was fired uppn by some of the 22 imposters who were claiming to be the ninth guru at village Bakala.

So it is that our parents and family and religious elders/relatives have decided that we were being mislead and that
their Guru and beliefs were being undermined, so they started on a policy of spreading slander and gossip about baba ji and our
sangat amongst all of our relatives and religious community and gurdwaras we attended.

We did not make effort to go and counter those accusations, except that when the situation arose with our parents or wife or
religious elders then God made us have the discussion or make the points or present the case to tell the Truth however it needed
to be told.

HE makes us do it all we have to do is give our tongue to HIm.  When we went to meet baba ji, Mata ji told us that if we
are confronted by the unbelievers, before replying just say "Baba ji please come and speak from this tongue"  and then answer.
You will be amazed what God will make you say to the other person.  Sometimes you will just be talking what seems is normal to you, but the other person will just go quiet like an arrow has hit their heart.  Why? Because God is making you sayEXACTLY what they need to hear to WAKE them up.   Then they will think you are psycic or something, and you will think nothing of it.  That is the power of "KARAM KHAND KEE BANEE JOR"

Dhan dhan Paarbrahm pita parmeshwar ji Baba ji Dassan dass ji, dearest Satsangat ji, please accept dandauth bandna from a maha kaami, maha krodhi, maha lobhi, maha mohi dog ji.

we thank you veer harjit ji for sharing your experiences, we also have this fearful nature. our relatives, friends, colleagues and bosses keep on talking and discussing false issues or the same old stories and beliefs with us but we just keep quiet and just smile and pray for them in our heart that baba ji blesses them too but don't have the courage to tear apart their wrong beliefs and trusts. sometimes we also agree and do what they say but on inside  we know that this is not right but then think that they will feel dissappointed and offended. so we don't say anything and if we say also they are not ready to accept or listen. may Satnaam ji give us the courage to serve the TRUTH.

Sat Naam Ji,
Dandauth Bandhna ji

An artist said this about his work :

Gormley said at the weekend he had achieved his goal of challenging perceptions of what constituted art.

"If it wasn't disturbing to people, it wouldn't be doing its job," he said.

"If it isn't contentious and doesn't get a mixed reaction, it's totally failing."

According to that definition , Baba Ji is the artist Divine!   His wisdom still disturbs people who find it contentious and results in a mixed reaction.

Even now sending His divine wisdom on the emails has resulted in a few angry and abusive replies.  First of all it hurts us a bit as there is a part of me that wants to be liked and popular.

But then we know that it is the Truth and Truth is rattling the thick layer of falsehood created by the religious bullshit some people have totally encased themselves in.

The very first time we met Baba ji he said things which we knew were true but had never dared to mention in our sikh society, we said that to Baba ji and he replied "if you know the Truth you have to share it, you cant keep quiet, that's not what Guru Gobind Singh ji wanted His Khalsa to be like."  So we said to Baba ji that we are full of fear and Baba ji blessed us with a smile and a pat on the back.  Since that day 6 years ago, circumstances have forced us to face all the ones we were afraid of - parents, wife, religious elders, managers at work, our own superstituous religious beliefs, all with faith in what we were saying is the Truth and if that means we lose our parents or our marriage or our job then so be it.  But in the end everything has worked out fine and the bubbles of fear have burst.  At the times we were telling the Truth and livng our Truth we did not always remain humble, mostly we shouted, got angry, stood our ground, pointed out our slanderers false beliefs and faced their wrath.  But it must have struck them in the heart because they have all changed for the better.  Having been challenged they have all changed (sooner or later) and mellowed out and adopted a "live and let live" attitude rather than the control game they were playing before - parents, wife, religion and mangers all trying to manipulate us through fear and guilt.  If they didn't change or mellow out, then God has moved us away from them eg changed jobs.  Dassan Dass ji said that when we have Truth behind us our words have power and is not considered to be anger, as written by Guru Nana k Dev ji in Japji "Karam Khand kee banee jor" - In the realm of Grace your WORDS have power.  When we are blessed by our Guru and enter the realm of grace - Karam Khand, then our words have the power to shake off the filth of the false.  dont be afraid to use this power.

So keep telling the Truth, have no fear in "disturbing" the ones who are in falsehood and be happy if they find it contentious and react badly.  It means we have done a good job.  The day we get into a comfort zone with everyone praising us and no one reacting to us, is the day we crawled back under the rock of complacency.

"What is false I will call false.
Even though the people may try to silence me.
I do not care for what anybody says.
I will speak but the truth from my mouth."

(Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh, Treh Charittar No.266, Dasam Guru Durbar)

Cleaning up up your own mess

Sat Naam

We had a dream the other day in which one of  the sangat was slouching over a toilet seat saying he wanted to go and meet Baba ji and we replied "what's the point of meeting Baba ji if you are not going to start cleaning up your own mess?"

Whilst saying that we were sitting on the side of a bath tub which was blocked due to vomit and half full with dirty water.  We had our arm upto our bicep in there
trying to unblock the drain.  Also there was vomit all over the side of the bath panel.   The person half-drunk over the toilet seat was the cause.  We were not angry or upset that we were cleaning up his vomit or his mess.

Then when it was unblocked, we stood up and said to a few others of his friends from the sangat who was there in a firm voice like I do when I'm telling the children off , "You all need to start taking responsibility for your own mess, start cleaning up your own mess."

On one side the dream may mean that I am fed up of cleaning the mess (which is not true, we did not feel it was disgusting or unfair for us to clean up the mess), on the other side the dream means that we can't just keep indulging in maya , desire and five thives and then expecting Baba ji or coming into sangat to keep cleaning us up.  We also need to make daily effort to stop chasing maya, drinking alcohol, chasing women and wealth and five thieves etc as well as doing daily Naam simran at Amritvela to clean up the mind.

We are just fighting five thieves this week as well, but with your grace we are back in balance now.

Three Wishes of Alexander The Great

Sat Naam

Dassan Dass ji wrote in Astpadi 12 of sukhmani Katha:

"Life is the real divine wealth that has been given to us by Dhan Dhan Paar Braham Pita Parmeshwar Ji.  This divine wealth of life is like a blank check that has been signed by Akal Purakh Ji in our name.  This is the divine super infinite power that is called life that runs our physical body.  It keeps it together and powers us to perform and live in this world.

We all are very fortunate to be born with human lives on this Earth.  The question is how this is a blank check and how can we cash it?  The answer is simple.  Each breath we take is priceless.  Ask a dying man if he can buy just one additional breath?  Even if he is willing to pay the sum total of all of the worldly wealth accumulated in his lifetime, can he purchase one additional breath?  No.  There is an example from history of Alexander the Great.  When he returned from India on his way back to Greece to see his mother he fell ill and was near to death.  There was now no chance of him seeing his mother before he died.   In life, he had amassed the wealth of half the world, but in sickness he became powerless.  He announced that if somebody could give him some more time to live he would give his entire kingdom to them.  But, there was nothing that could change the Hukam for him.  He died broken and unfulfilled without reaching his mother. "

Here is an article about the "Three Wishes of Alexander The Great"

There is very instructive incident involving the life of Alexander, the
great Greek king. Alexander, after conquering many kingdoms, was returning
home. On the way, he fell ill and it took him to his death bed.

With death staring him in his face, Alexander realized how his conquests,
his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no consequence.
He now longed to reach home to see his mother's face and bid her his last
adieu.

But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not permit
him to reach his distant homeland. So, the mighty conqueror lay prostrate
and pale, helplessly waiting to breathe his last.

He called his generals and said, "I will depart from this world soon, I
have three wishes, please carry them out without fail." With tears flowing
down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their king's last
wishes.

"My first desire is that," said Alexander, "My physicians alone must carry
my coffin."

After a pause, he continued, "Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is
being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard be strewn
with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my
treasury."

The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute's rest and
continued. "My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling
out of my coffin."

The people who had gathered there wondered at the king's strange wishes.
But no one dare bring the question to their lips.

Alexander's favorite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his
heart. "O king, we assure you that your wishes will all be fulfilled. But
tell us why do you make such strange wishes?"

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said: "I would like the world to
know of the three lessons I have just learnt.

I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that
no doctor can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a
person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for
granted. (Moral of the story - If we don't take care of our health, nobody
can)

The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to
the graveyard is to tell people that not even a fraction of gold will come
with me. I spent all my life earning riches but cannot take anything with
me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.
And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I
wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty
handed I go out of this world." With these words, the king closed his
eyes. Soon he let death conquer him and breathed his last. (We don't own
anything. Even our bodies are borrowed.)

Fwd: Even if you only learn one thing, share it.

Sat Naam

This is an inspiring article about a boy who teaches his fellow village students.
We remember Baba ji said to us once that even if we learn only one good thing from coming to
Sangat, to share it with another.  And Baba ji also said that saints are being born into the world
every day that is why we have children who are running charities and making the changes that adults
in charge wont or dont.

This story catpures both those elements

SatNaam Tanraj Ji,
Dandauth bandhna ji

what you shared with us is the Truth.
Thankyou ji.

Dassan dass ji also told us a while back that it is not the dream/vision that is important,
it is our KARNI (deeds) in that dream/relam that counts.  Meaning we even have to beat our ego
and other vices in those realms as well.  That we even have to have enough awareness to keep remembering Sat Naam
in those places as well.  Which is what we understand from your message too.

We are still losing to 5 vices in our dreams, we are just an enjoyer of maya ji, please forgive us and bless us with EK MUNN IK CHIT - one mind one focus one drive to be ONE with Sat Naam.  Bless us with the love of the Lord Baba Ji and Dassan Dass ji and Baba Nanak Gur gobind Singh ji in our heart always and forever ji,

To Guru Satnaam Ji,
I am only a student but sometimes i feel I should put these questions out there. If you feel this should be forwarded to the sangat I am at your grace.

I look at the messages of my fellow brothers and sisters within this sangat and I accept the divine messages of truth they bring, but some messages I don't share the same enthusiasm for.

What are they looking for?

I accept God is one in all and All in one.

But many in this sangat dwell too much on dreams and visions, rather than the path of God- enlightenment- jivan mukti.

I do tell you of my dreams because I want to confirm I am not missing any message, I can't let go of my master, the word love isn't strong enough to explain this need to merge with the great being.

I am a fantasist, this very being creates dreams in his mind in the image of a single dot of light merging with a White sun, achieving jivan mukti opening a door from within a plain of darkness. My love, my dream is God, being One again.I crave this being like a drug, my master has intoxicated me and all that has done this is listening, to the divine wisdom (gyan) and the divine scriptures Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

I understand ones joy to witness new feats and worlds but all is derived via hukam, meaning all is Maya. As soon as the 14 realms were created they can cease to exist. So tell my brothers and sisters to focus on the permanent and that is our Lord Satnaam, this message isn't directed at one particular member of the sangat but every single individual in this sangat.

If One was to follow miracles then their master is Magic, and not God. Baba Nanak put forward this very message to the many in his sangat. Tell your sangat their minds are straying on realms and powers, search true Gyan and become one with it, marry this knowledge and jivan mukti will come.

If I offend anyone, I apologise but I am here to do no harm, only to help.
