SatNaam Ji,
Dandauth Bandhna Ji
Baba ji often states that parents try and dominate their kids and by doing so dont let them live their heart.
How can you recognise if you are doing that to your kids?
Here is a very insightful article about the way we talk to our children in order to control them and effectively
we teach them to find answers from the opinions of their parents, peers and others, rather than
having the confidence to look within and trusting how they feel about something.
This morning we saw a father absolutely destroying his 7 year old son on the way to school. The
child "Jack" had dropped his glove, so they had to walk back to find it. The father took out his anger on the poor kid,
"YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN WEARING IT LIKE I TOLD YOU."
Then as they marched back, Jack had his head hung low and was walking slowly, "HURRY UP, YOU ARE MAKING US LATE."
Then when the found the glove on the pavement, "YOUR ALWAYS DOING THIS."
Then as I apporached them, the child didnt notice me and I walked around him as he had his head lung low. That gave the father another excuse
"WHATS THE MATTER WITH YOU , ALWAYS LOOKING DOWN."
Then I looked back and the father crouched down next to his son and grabbed his coat and shouted, "YOU NEED TO SORT YOURSELF OUT JACK,
NOW STAY WITH ME AND WALK TO SCHOOL."
At which the poor kid burst out in tears and I could hear him crying loudly as he ran away from his Dad.
I am sure I have been like this with our own kids at time, it really makes me sick of my own behaviour in the past,
we prayed for poor Jack that Baba ji bless him and his father with understanding.
If you read the following article you will be surprised at how negative , controlling and demanding and crushing we are ouf our kids hearts.
See how many of the phrases used by parents you can relate to. See how many phrases you remember hearing as you grew up.
If you lack self belief in your own heart and are always looking for others to know what to think, then you have been brought up in the same way by your parents,
elders and perhaps religion as well.
God bless us all to break the cycle. To see God in the child.
dust of your feet
