"Its Ok to make mistakes - you learn from them.  If you don't make mistakes, you aren't really trying."

this applies to bhagti as well - keep perservering, even if you think you are getting nowhere, you are actually learning what DOESN'T work.

Shabad Guru, SatGuru and You - part 2

PS ..once you get the GurPArsaadi Naam and you open your heart through regular naam simran and total surrender, then when you read/listen/sing the divine words of Guru Granth Sahib ji,  only then you connect at the heart-to-heart level, the spiritual level and really understand because you feel what the Guru's where feeling.  And if you sing / read. gurbani to others, they will also feel it in their heart due to the GurPArsaad coming from your heart.  That is why even the Guru Granth Sahib ji is installed in thousands of Gurdwaras all over the world, yet most are empty, but when a Sant comes and the Kirtan  becomes magical, becuase it is heart o heart, so people flock to those places where the Sant is - teh baykunt tera sadhu kirtan gaaiaa ..that is the real heaven where the Sant sings the real Kirtan  (inside every cell of themself).

thankyou for sharing and realising the Truth, that the GurParsaad - God's Kindness upon you got you wherever you are now.   In our ardas everyday we also thank all of the Guru's and Bhagats for sharing their Gurbani with us, their lifestory, their personal diary.  Everyday we thank all of those brave Sikhs who gave their lives to preserve and protect the divine words through wars and oppression so that they have come to us intact.

You have realised for yourself that we need the combination of

a) you  (surat)
b) divine word (shabad guru - GurParsaadi Naam).
c) divine guru (sat guru)

All of the Gurus and Bhagts had this.

In gurbani the aim of meditation is "shabd surat da mel" - the union of you(surat) into the shabad.  This happens ONLY with the Eternal blessings of the SatGuru - that is the GurParsaad.

The printed word is the lifestory of the Gurus telling us that they were suffering , lonely, hurt, then they called out to god, that lead them to the sangat of the Sant, they served the Sant with mind , body and soul, the Sant gave them the Gurparsaad of Naam and everything happened inside them.   They are telling us that is what they did and that is what we also need to do.      When you are listening to Gurbani or reading it for yourself, it is the combination of you (or the reader) and the word, that brings it to life and moves you.    What effect it has on someone depends on the state of the reader/listener.  We have four parts to us - phycial, mental/emotional, spiritual

If you are still in body consciousness you will like to listen to the music with your ears or like physical action of reading with your mouth and tongue.  It will help you to start concentrating.

If you like to sing the words or listen to kirtan and feel moved, then it is effecting you emotionally, which is deeper than just body consciousness.

If you like to read and understand , then it is effecting you intellectually.- mentally.

All these first three levels are still part of the physical realm - DHARAM KHAND, GIAN KHAND and SARAM KHAND.

to go beyond into your spiritual dimension, to open your heart, you need HIS ETERNAL BLESSINGs, the GURPARSAAD of NAAM, and that comes from the SANT GURU.  He then gives you the SHABAD GURU of "SATNAAM".

The actual Gurparsaadi Naam, is they key to your heart, you only get from the SANT, not from the printed word.

Hope this explains it better.

God Bless all.

The words struck me deep inside...i couldnt believe the beauty of what i was reading...day after day, month after month, i pondered on certain words, what the meant, how they made me feel...i started contemplating god on a daily basis....what is He? where is He? i came across words like Naam, mediation, Simran....wondered what they were...searched far and wide for deeper meaning...but always returning back to SGGS Ji and finding that with Gods Grace the meanings were evolving, changing alongside my own internal changes...the more i looked, read, pondered contemplated...the more i wanted to find, experience and feel the bliss. I then hit a part in my life and fell off the tracks again....and in a CRY TO GOD, I YELLED FOR SOME HELP :(. By Grace i emailed the sangat, and by great good fortune Dassan Dass Ji was visiting the U.K and i went to see Him. My life hasnt been the same since. the blessings are endless.

But the tests are continuous...theres much to defeat and gain control of in the mind...and i fail miserably sometimes :(
But now i have the company of the Sat Sangat to help guide me :)  how can i fail :)

SGGS Ji ferried me across to this point in time...but there's still a distance to go...i can see the shore...Satnaam Dassan Dass ji is the lighthouse guiding me to safety.

The words spoken by the Saints are divine/true.
Nanak ji says by Naam meditation the beings are carried across.

So we can see that whatever one speaks constitutes bani, however, the words spoken by the saints or spoken in the praise of Lord are sweet, nectar, true and pure. The power is in the word spoken by the Holy Beings not in the holy scriptures, statues, places of worship etc. When Guru Nanak ji said about Mardana that he won't die(marda na) the words had the power. When Babba Budha ji said that Bibi ji will give birth to a Son who will smash the head of enemy like a onion they were the words of a Saint. The words come from the heart in which the God resides i.e. have manifested itself.

The holy places/scriptures can be destroyed but the God does not disappear. Lord exists in each and everything, in transition, never gets old and is always new. The blessings will come from the living heart. How one gets blessed, by serving the creation as Guru Gur.

By Guru's Grace, read, study & understand the Bani/spiritual knowledge so that one can be honoured/blessed with the Ambrosial Naam/Name of the Lord within oneself.

Once it is spoken it is a clarification/an explanation for others, it does not have the embedded power. You have been reading/listening/singing the Bani/holy scriptures for years, where is your longing/yearning/affection for the Gur Guru. Have you ever been passionate for a glimpse of your guru desperate to hear him speak. You just read it, never believed or never acted over it. Never practised what it says, how you expect to realize God.

People always say they get offended by some things, do they ever think why. God residing inside you never feel offended, although you even deny its existence. He still provides you with the breath, pumps your heart, still feed you. The power lies in the word spoken by the Holy Beings, ones belief in it and the subsequent action. Look at the lives of first four Gurus. Once they came to the Guru, they never looked back. They gave up their family, all the relatives/property and completely surrendered to their Guru. What have you surrendered, where is your belief when have you asked for the forgiveness. What you expect in the return. You think you are doing the meditation. You are just making the effort, trying to submit, rest is all up to the Guru Gur. Remmeber no surrender/give-ups, no meditation/bhagti.

We are nothing, all is with the blessing of Guru Gur. Just keep us at your feet, keep forgiving because we can do nothing without you. We are full of bad, not even one good.
