Only Guru Can Ask Anyone To Recite Sat Naam

Sat Naam
Dandauth bandhna ji

just sharing a truth-talk we had with Omana ji.

Harjit: we should never try to control anyone else by saying to the they should recite "Sat Naam".  We are all at different stages.  If he (your Sikh teacher) is enjoying doing Waheguru then so be it.  Baba ji went through that stage as well, then God himself came and told Baba ji to meditate upon Sat Naam. Actually we all make a mistake when we think of Sat Naam just as a name.  Because then people start comparing their mantra with our mantra and there are millions of names of God, so people get confused.  Think of it like this, that all names are of God and remind us of Him.  Even saying Sat Naam as a name is reminding us He is Truth.  But what it really means is that He is real, He exists, He is all that truly exists.  So when we feel that in our heart, that He exists, He is real, He is true and beautiful, then we are experiencing the Truth.  And there is no name, just the expereince of this is Truth and before I was just in maya - falsehood.

omana_balu: ok ji but we never ask him to utter satnaam we only share and its all up to him ji.

Harjit: You never need to even share with others to recite Sat Naam.  They will feel you dont understand them and that makes a barrier.   We let everyone do whatever spiritual practise makes them happy - wether its reciting Waheguru, doing paat, singing kirtan.  And we are happy to sit with them do join in and then go quiet and recite what our Guru has asked us to i.e. "Sat Naam Sat Naam".  We are not Guru so we can not tell or even hint to others to recite Sat Naam, only the Guru can.  So we can give them articles/book by Dassan Dass ji  if they are interested in reading them. Everyone is on their own spiritual journey, we just have to focus on completing our own by staying low and humble.
omana_balu: OK ji its true what you have said and it make me clear now.i woud like to share something ,recently devi ji astral body left and a sant came into her body.He was very old and holding a stick. He slowly placed the stick down and put his hand on my head and bless me and my teacher. Then placed his hand on both of my teacher palm and activate energy on his palm. This sant was cewing something in his mouth ji.Then he left and devi ji came bck conscious.
Harjit: that's amazing, that's the blessings from beyond.  your teacher is being blessed through you, you are all helping each other.
omana_balu: Yes ji God is so so good to everyone ji.Another thing before the sant came an angel came into her and wrote in a piece of paper for my teacher asking him to overcome maya and do meditation ji.But we feel tis apply to us too ji and the angel told me to remain in my prayer as what i am doing now.
omana_balu: we too need to overcome all tis 5 thieves which everday tomenting us ji
Harjit: yes, the only way we ca overcome anything is realise that we cant overcome anything without the guru.  so we have to surrender at the gurus feet everyday, "countless times i ama sacrifice to my guru ..balharee gur apanaa deoharee sad vaar"
omana_balu: ji tis surrender to guru means my teacher or god i feel confused ji
Harjit: God is the one and only Guru.  But he resides in the heart of many in all his glorious wonder.  Surrender means to stop chasing what maya wants (desire) and start doing what God wants (hukam)  and Hukam is our inner intuition and hukam is what Dassan Dass ji has shared in his website/book and hukam is what is ni gurbani
omana_balu: OK ji now i understand, tks ji.Ji i need to go now cos i need to feed some food for this bird where we r taking care and we do not put him in a cage.he is tame and doesnt fly away.He will fly to me when i bring the food ji,H is name is Gobind.SATNAAM SATNAAM SATNAAM AND I BOW AT YOUR HOLY FEET and thank you for spending time wit me  i feel so bless and am going to share wit devi ji later .
Harjit: thankyou so much,

Dealing with the desire for money

QN:

2009/11/23 Supreet Kalsi <supreetkalsi@yahoo.com>
Ik Oankar Sat Naam Ji Fateh Ji

Dandaut Parvaan Karna Ji

I love the way you explain everything. It hits home because I've experienced so many things you mention in your emails, which helps me make sense of things and that is the greatest help. Thank you a million times for sharing your thoughts, your experiences.

Even in the message below, where you mention that when we meditate, maya attacks harder at us and the deepest desires come true. Even Dhan Dhan Dassan Dass ji told me that maya is showing its full colors to us (family) because we've been blessed with Naam.

My first love from high school had been my deep desire for long time. We were together in high school but it didn't work out and we didn't talk to each other for 9 years. But all this time she was the one I wanted to be with. So finally I gathered the courage to ask her again after 9 years, and we were together again because she had some feelings for me too. I couldn't believe it, I was with the girl of my dreams (my deep deep desire). And just like you mentioned, first we see heaven and then hell. It was heaven for around 3 months and everything seemed wonderful and then it all turned into hell as she realized that we're not compatible. Hell lasted much longer than heaven did. I understood my mistake, learned from it and that deep desire was finally GONE! I realized it too and thanked God for getting that desire out. So what you've said makes perfect sense!!

The real reason for this message is to seek some guidance on the other deep desire, which is money. As meditation and naam simran gets better, I am able to understand the mind more and more. I now understand its powers, and how to make use of those powers. Like setting goals, using Law of attraction and changing your life to however you want. I have not done anything like this, but I understand how it works. I used to have limiting beliefs, which are all gone pretty much. I feel like nothing is impossible and anything is achievable with the power of the mind. I've always felt like I am not using my full potential and that I am not making as much as I am worth. So, now my obvious desire is to use my mind's capability to make more money.

What confuses me, because I am a fool and don't understand anything, is that on one hand it seems like I can now live my life more proactively and more positively, on the other hand it seems like maya is attacking and making me chase my desire for more money. So I don't know what to do. I don't understand if I should just ignore what I've understood about mind and not use it for any personal gains or try to improve my life and live more proactively. I definitely don't want to go through another heaven/hell cycle. But how can one tell if it's maya attacking and showing me ways to fulfill my desire for making max use of my potential? I keep wondering where I should just keep going like this, staying in an entry level job or use my abilities to better my career (make more money)?

Thanks again a million times! Please share this with others.

Dearest Veer Ji,

Dassan Dass ji has said it very simply that working honestly to improve our standards is a pure and pious thing to do.  He said that "work is a pious activity".  So working honestly and hard is good.  Working by taking bribes and cheating and lying is not good.  Baba ji has also said to treat our manager as a Guru, our colleagues as our sangat and our work as our seva.    How will this transform you?  Because work wont bite you, thoughts like "I'm not working ot my full potential wont bite you", or "I'm not earning enough" or "I should have got that promotion instead of him," or "I hate this place, I need to get out".    Just think when you go to the Gurdwara and do seva, you wouldn't expect someone to come and pay you for washing the dishes?  And because we have no expectation for ourself when doing SEVa we leave feeling satisfied, feeling we have been useful, we have cleaned our soul, and we are closer to God.  If we have the same attitude at work, then we will always leave feeling satisfied - Maya doesnt bite.  And Baba ji said we will only receive the amount of money that we are destined to.  So someone maybe working 100hours a week to their full potential but earning little.  Another person maybe working a few hours and earning a fortune.  In maya we are under the illusion that we responsible for how much we earn.  But that is ego.  Because ego wants us to think we are the do-er, we are the controller and ego gets disappointed when we are "not working to our full potential".  But Dassan Dass ji has taught us that Sat Naam Karta Purakh is the One and Only Do-er.

In our last job we were really bored and frustrated and resented being there.  but with Guru ji's kirpa the spare time we had we just id the website seva.  Then we felt guilty for not working hard and honestly, (but there was not much work to do anyway).  Baba ji told us not to feel guilty as our seva was accepted and that as long as we were doing the work we had and not getting behind it was fine.  Also we said to baba ji we want to leave.  Baba ji said that was our desire and we shouldnt follow our desires.  But if the company wanted us to leave to take that as Hukam - Gods desire fo us.  So we waited and six months later the company offered voluntary redundnacy which we accepted and walked away with 6 months salary.  Then we had no desire to find another IT job as we wanted to do something diffferent like full time seva by starting a meditation centre, but Baba ji said to us that we were better to do our technical job for 5 days and seva for 2 days.  We did not want to hear that, but accepted that if we have mad a Guru then we should override our own wants, with what God-Guru Ji wants.   So we prayed to Baba ji to give us motivation to do our technical job.  We started revising for interviews and suddenly found our IT books really interesting again.  We went for two interviews and di Naam simran in ahppy way throughout the day for those three weeks we were revising and off work.  We were offered both jobs we applied for and got one 10 minutes from our house.  Baba ji then said to us that everythin gwas taken care for us because we looked for a new job under the blessings of Naam.

That is the subtle difference between our state of mind when we are working under the influence of maya, then we have desire and that always bites us.  But when we work for the Guru, under the blessings of Naam, then everything is taken care of.

Its very simple, we want ot be lovers of God, we want to fall in love with our Guru ji's lotus feet, for that we give mind, body and wealth.  We dont want anything of maya, we want to give our head for the love of the Naam.  Like Guru Arjun Dev ji gave everything including his body for the love of the Naam.   But God-Guru ji is so kind that he knows we need food, money, wife and fammily to live as well.  so under His blessings he arranges for all of that to happen for us.

When you go to work, pray to Satguru ji "may we work with your blessings baba Ji, may we work for the glory of Naam , for the glory of your Hukam.  May we work in this place for as long as YOU wants us to. May we trust whatever YOU are doing is the best thing for us.  Please save us from our own desires and wants and foolishness due to Maya."

Everytime you study or go for an interview or learn new skills dont make money your motivation, instead say "Baba ji you are the kindest of the kind, please come into our mind, body and soul, and you study and you do the interview."

So just bring Sat Naam Sat Guru ji into every aspect of your life including work.

The mistake people make is seeing life as a choice between doing BHAGTI or MAKING MONEY.

On this path, working, having a family life, eating, being happy is all part of our bhagti, because we bring Sat Naam  into every activity and we remove desire from every activity.

Re: [Gurmukhs] Meditation Course

SatNaam Ji,
Dandauth Bandhna ji.

we are not busy at all actually.  So am more than happy to receive your email ji.
Just think of Naad as the divine sound.
Just listen to things going on around you.  so many different and varied sounds - keyboard tapping, people talking, sounds your body is making.  All these are physical sounds, sounds in Maya.  But the source of all sound is the One.  The divine source of all sound is the Naad.

Just as we look around and see all kinds of lights and colours, they are physical lights in Maya.  but the source of all light is the One - the Divine Light.

Light and sound are just energy.  The source of which is the divine energy - Naam - and that is what exists, is real, is the underlying canvas for the painting of the universe, that is why it is the Truth - SAT.

So in meditation we use the physical sound of a mantra as a spirngboard to go back to the source, to the Naad.
Here is edfintion by Dassan Dass Ji.  Panch Shabad - means there are 5 primal sounds and anhad means it is not struck i.e. not physical - spiritual.

"Panch Shabad Anhad Naad (Divine Music)
QUESTION:What is Panch Shabad Anhad Naad that Gurbani talks about? I have been hearing some sounds in my ears.

ANSWER: The divine music that Gurbani describes – Panch Shabad Anhad Naad is not heard in the ears, it is not a Kanni rus, it is the real divine amrit that is heard in the Dassam Duaar (Tenth Gate) "Anhad Shabad Dassam Duaar Vajjyeaa Taa Amrit Naam Chuaayeea Thaa" and this divine music is heard on a continous basis – Akhand Kirtan – that is what it is – non-stop continous stream of music and this is a very high levels of Gur Parsaad which comes in when the Bandgi goes into Karam Khand and all the Bajjar Kappaats are open including Dassam Duaar, when all Sat Sarovars are activated and ulluminated and the Amrit – Naam Simran goes into Rom Rom (each cell of the body) and the entire body gets filled with amrit."

SatNaam Ji,

With Guru Ji's kirpa, we have uploaded the meditation course we ran at our
house a few years ago.
There are Level 1 and Level 2 courses with a total of 9 lessons recorded as
MP3.
It is a very easy way to learn to relax and to focus the mind using guided
imagery and soothing music. We have had very good response from past
students.

Each lesson has an introductory talk , a guided meditation and a discussion
at the end. If you would like to follow it
you can send me your experiences/questions by email.

You will need a few hours to do each lesson, may Dassan Dass ji bless you to
work through it. It will really help you as it helped those students who
came on the course.

Some Questions For Inner Inquiry.

Dearest Sat Sangat Ji,
Please accept our head at your feet in service.

We hope that the sangat will use the questions at the end to do some soul searching.

On the inner path it is very easy to forget that we are supposed to be battling with maya and five thieves and very easy to let ego
say "its no big deal" and let those vices stay inside us without dealing with them.  Even coming into sangat or in sending emails (myself included)
it is so easy to talk about the things we have done , are doing and are going to do, it is so easy to talk about other people and how they have effected us.
But it is very difficult to actually spit out the reality of what is holding us back to becoming one with the Truth. But until we do this we
are living superficially, like skimming over the ocean of the mind rather than dving deep.  Also until we do this internal inquiry and be
brutally honest with ourself as to what we are, we wont even get any peace by going to Sangat, because we are not releasing the grip of ego.
Even by going into sangat and just sharing our spiritual experiences of the meditation can become the tool of ego to gain some acknowledgement/praise from our peers,
to  also avoid talking about the real issues that are holding us back from God.  Baba ji has asked us to share experiences to insipre others, but at the same time
we have to avoid getting ego of sharing them, but also avoid making that the primary goal of our meditation/bhagti.  Dassan Dass ji said to us that all these expereinces are given to us to encourage us.  But if we start desiring them and using them to assess how far we are in bhagti, then they become a roadblock.  It becomes a desire and it becomes a way of deflecting us from looking at are real inner state.

Here are some tools to go deeper in the form of questions.  They are from the blessed soul Tanraj Singh ji who gave them to us to start our inner inquiry.
you may like to answer them and send the answers to the forum - it will also serve as a confession and a release from ego, it will help.

FROM TANRAJ JI:

"1) Ask yourself to confess our deeds done under the influence of the 5 thieves and desires,

2) Ask yourself why are you here (on this forum, or coming to sangat - whatever sangat you go to)?

3) Ask yourself "what do I seek to find?"

4) Ask yourself "how do I fail myself?"

5) Ask yourself, "how do I fail God?"

6) Ask yourself, "how do I intend to resurrect his Name?"

Ask yourself, ask yourself, ask yourself these questions.

them. As I said they can only be taken to the shore, but the tests sent by God are theirs alone to attempt."

Dealing with parents not approving of our relationship

Sat Naam Ji
Dandauth Bandhana Ji.

This was a reply to someone, hope this helps others too.

====

thankyou so much for emailing, its really good to be able to put down in words how we feel, otherwise the mind
can really grind us down.  We can really relate to what you are feeling through what has happened to us and our sister
and other people we know.  The first thought that comes to us is that "why do parents have to be so narrow minded?"  "why cant they be happy when their child falls in love and is happy and wants to express that?"   Why do they want to put an innocent child through the grindstone?  What is more important to them than the happiness of their child?
Its normally for two reasons a) they are so used to being your protectors that they think you have not chosen well, and b)
they want to choose for you in order to protect their reputation and status in society.

Whilst you as an innocent heart do not worry about either of those things, they do.  So a good place to start is to really put yourself in their shoes and see where they are coming from.  you dont have to agree with their viewpoint or what they say, but just step into their shoes and really feel how they must be feeling.  And how strong these feelings are within them.  To understand someone else deeply is a gift.  Then you can stop seeing them as your enemies or as obstacles and just apreciate some of the good points eg its not bad to have someone looking out for you, they do have life experience. And yes you can understand that they want to get you married into a good suitable family so you will have a good stable happy family life.     So you can appreciate their intentions are good towards you.  That they do love you and care about you.

However, the way the go about it isnt very good.  They fall into the same trap that they dont know how to communicate with their children.  So they revert to "do as we say or dont come back" typical indian film drmatics.  Our parents did the same thing with us as well!!   So because you are kind, you can forgive them for their lack of communication skills and just appreciate their good intentions towards you.

It is important to do this, otherwise you will start seeing your parents as your enemies and if they make you chose between them or who you love, you may chose them this time and next time, but the third or fourth time you will chose the one you love and run away from your parents because you are sick of their controlling nature.   We have expereinced this too.   But really you dont have to play their game of choose us or him.

You have to keep focused on the good points of your parents.  when they say hurtful things like that, you just say to them "yes i understand that this must be very upsetting for you that is why you say those things.  But I still love you mum/dad."

If you do really love this guy and he is good to you and his family is good to you too etc, then you know that you dont want to have a secret relationship, but would like yours and his parents blessings.  So you dont want to do things in secret which will give your parents more reasons not to like him.  But you can accept that it might take your parents some time to accept him and your decision.  So you can work on that overtime in a loving way.  Let their negativity go over your head, keep returning positivity.

Baba Ji said to us that the smile on his childrens face is his happiness, not pleasing society.  Baba ji said that God is love and the spontaneous love that appears in your heart for another person is the closest God comes into this Earth.  so what you are feeling is not bad and God is on your side.  However, this is your Karma playing out - do you follow your heart or do you follow your family and society.  At your age your parents have too much control over you as you are used to them controlling you since you were a baby and to go against that is too emotionally difficult for you.  Parents know that and use emotional blackmail to get you to do what they want.  They wont give you their blessings or approval and you feel you cant do anything without their approval.   Its a tough place to be.   But its all part of growing up, to make your own way in the world, to make a stand for your feelings, to put your heart first even if it means losing your family, friends and society and reputation.    However, without a guru it is difficult to do without biting us emotionally,  with a guru parents and everyone come around to it eventually.

Hope this is making sense.

Here is what we suggest:

1) what we would advise you to do is to free your mind of everything.  Do your Simran and let go of everything - the guy, the parents, the studying, the guilty conscience and anything else that is bothering you.  Just relax and for 30 minutes tell your mind that nothing else matters and do your relaxation and simran.  Regain your centre, your sense of balance, your peace.

2) Prioritise what is important in your life at this moment eg

First - God-Guru-Sangat as in point 1 - stay centred.
Second - studying and catching up what you have neglected
Third - keeping peace at home so you can study
Fourth- your relationship with this guy.  No harm taking more time to get to know him, plus there's no pressure on you to make big decisions overnight.  If you are destined to be with him then nothing can stop you, and if you aren't destined to be with him then nothing you do will make it happen.  that is why baba ji says KARMA OVERRULES EVERYTHING.  Andif you are to be with him for the rest of your life, another 6 months of taking it slowly so it doesnt effect your peace of mind and your peace at home is not a big sacrifice.

It is always good to listen to how you feel. If you dont feel right about doing something NEVER EVER DO IT.  Plus when you are not in a balanced peaceful state of mind, NEVER EVER make big decisions.  Because they will be the wrong choices.  (Talking from expereince!!)  So trust in God-Guru and be patient and know that everything happens when it is supposed to happen, not when we want it to happen.  So NEVER EVER CHASE MAYA.  Chasing desires is chasing MAYA, it only causes pain in the end.  When you trust in god-guru and find peace in your heart, then everything will come to you - that is how kind Guru is.  You never have to chase anything or anyone, that is the power of Naam.  It makes you into a beautiful flower to which the bees come.  The flower never chases the bees.  You dont need to run after any guy in secret.  You dont need to do anything in secret.  Get rid of fear, trust in God, be true to your heart, be patient and watch and wait to see how things turn out.

God bless you.

Soul Mates ?

Sat Naam Ji
Dandauth Bandhna Ji.

We are sharing this as it may help others to get out of the grip of confusing relationship desires.

The following was sent in reply to a question about meeting your soul mate and both parties feeling strong attraction even though they may already be married:

====

Forget about soul mates, Baba ji said that souls dont merge with each other, only into God. What we have with other souls is Karma. And whenever you have an interaction with someone else its due to your past karma or making new karma. And where you have a big attraction its probably because you were married/partners/realted before. You have the attraction because your left over karma with each other has to play out. Baba ji explained that law of karma overrules everything. So that means karma has to play out regardless of the story of "he is married" etc. Karma doesnt care about man-made things that we have , wether that means the other person is married and made promises to be faithful to his wife (so why are there so many affairs? - because karma overrules everything).

How does Karma play? Through desire. Attractions is all part of wanting and desiring something of the world. Once we have desire then we work on making it come true , which leads to all the interactions (monetary, time, words, gifts, kissing, sex etc) - which is basically all of the give and take that was due to each other accroding to past karma. Along the way we will end up making new karma as well, to repay on another day in future. So that in a nutshell is how we are all repaying our dues so that the LAW OF KARMA prevails. No one and absolutely no -one escapes their Karma. It doesnt matter how educated you are, or how religious you are, or how high your morals are, when desire takes over all that goes out of the window so that KARMA can be played out, plus consequences.

The only way to escape from our Karma our have it reduced is through the eternal blessings through the grace of our God-Guru, to give up desire, to ask for forgivness, to not follow the desire, not even the logic of the mind which will try and tell you it is not desire but hukam. Actually the LAW OF KARMA is one of the Divine Laws (hukam). But the direct Hukam of God in you which we call intuition is never selfish, is never thinking of our own happiness and our own attractions, it is always thinking of the benefit of others and not causing pain to others (unless their pain is caused due to their false beliefs being shattered by Truth).

Hope that makes sense.

Also when you are doing more simran and meditation as you are, things you desire deep down will come to you thick and fast. The things you desire will be in any area where you have unfullfilled wishes eg relationships or money are the main ones i found. So that is how you know its a test. Its always a test. You always have the choice to follow the desire to get it out of your system, but whilst doing so your spiritual elevation that you have workes so hard at gaining will drop drastically i.e. you will chase heaven (pleasure) enjoy it for a while, but eventually end up seeing the hell (pain) of it as well. Then when you come out of it you may once again turn towards Bhagti to find the Truth again. And that is the cycle we go around and around and around in.

Its all just evolution of our consciousness, to get out of desires, to become desire free - either by following the desires until we feel the pain, or letting them go because we have surrendered to our Guru and to keep going forward.

So how to protect yourself from it?

Pray to Guru ji to say "I am full of desires, full of five thieves, I fully accept all my mistakes, please forgive us and keep us always under your feet SatGuru ji. Mind is Your, body is Your, Wealth is yours, nothing is mine, just give us Naam, Seva and Bandagi guru ji."

And then inside yourself you ahve to decide 100% I dont want this. And It doesnt matter if I end up being lonely or alone or never find anyone else (etc and all the other things the mind tries to tell us so we wont give it up).

Re: [Truth] Why you find it difficult to concentrate/PLEASE HELP

Sat Naam Guru Pyare Ji,
Dandauth bandhna ji

whenever we cant concentrate on Naam Simran or have lost our thirst for it, we need to look inside
and find the root cause of our problem.  You will find that you have desires for things of the world which you dont
want to give up.   You will find you have unfulffiled hopes and dreams which make you feel disappointed about
how life has turned out for you.  When you feel low inside, you lose self belief, instead you start believing that
this is your destiny - to be stuck in despair and desires and unfulfilled hopes and dreams.  When you start believing
that then you have no motivation to make any effort to get up and change and to strive forward with your Bhagati.
This is what we have found has happened to us on occassions.

The solution we found was in this prayer "mohi na visaro ji ma jun tera, ma junn tera" - "Please do not forget about me Guru Ji,
I am Your servant, I am your servant."  Prayer to our Guru Ji from the depths of our heart changes everything.  Otherwise
we are just reaping the life od desires and despair we deserve according to our past Karma.
Keep praying fro your heart, keep believing that your soul is destined for greatness - to shine bright for the glory of Naam in this world.  Keep believing, keep praying and read the website and put those things into practise.  Their are no shortcuts, the Guru ji opens the door for us through Eternal Blessings but we have to make the effort to walk through.  We have to make the effort to die once and for all at the Guru ji's feet.  We have say from our heart that we now surrender mind, bopdy and wealth at Guru ji's feet like bhai lehna ji did so at Guru Nanak Dev ji's feet.  Like Dassan Dass ji did at Baba ji's feet. We have to do it as well, then we progress and only then can we concentrate and then does the Naam seem sweet ...Sant Sang antar Prabh Deeta, naam prabhoo ka lagaa meeta -- in the company of the sant God is realised and the Naam becomes sweet.

SO GUR PYAREY SAAD SANGAT JI PLEASE PREY FOR ME SO THAT I CAN CONTINUE ON THIS PATH.
G S K

The reason why when many of you sit for Naam Simran it is difficult to concentrate is because Maya

becomes very active. Maya knows that there is somebody sitting there

trying to win over her. That there is someone who is trying to become her

enemy and trying to get out of her influence. That there is someone who

doesn't want to remain her servant any more. The only way to get out of

Maya's grip is with GurParsaad. If we are blessed with GurParsaad then we

are the very fortunate ones and should never take it for granted. We need to

remain humble and remember that it has taken many Janams to reach this

level. But, even reaching this level if we do not serve GurParsaad, then it is

nothing but foolishness. When we stay focused on serving GurParsaad

then Maya will not be able to distract us and do any harm to our Bandgi.

We continue to move forward until we win over Maya.

Re: [Truth] Dhan Dhan Guru Nanak

SatNaam Ji, Dandauth Bandhna ji

that was a beautiful thing to share. We were also drawn to meditate upon Dhan Baba Nanak Ji's lotus feet this morning,
like Bhai Lehna Ji surrendered everything at the feet of Baba Nanak Ji.  We read something by Baba ji that really inspired us recently and changed our attitude towards doing naam simran.  Whilst I was doing naam simran for my own benefit I got disappointed and frustrated when I felt nothing happened.  But we read baba ji saying "Do bhagti it for the glory of His Naam, do it for the glory of his Hukam."

Dear blessed Sangat jee,

Dandout Bandana, forever at your blessed feet,

I had a really beautiful experience this morning and i thought it would be nice to share this with the sangat. In the early hours of the morning i woke up very suddenly, almost in a panicked feeling that someone had entered the room. I was then wide awake and i started doing my simran, suddenly i felt a really strong presence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, it was a really soft, peaceful presence, it was loving and comforting......He stood very clearly by the side of the bed near Jaspal.

He spoke to me in Bani, he said "naanak nadharee nadhar nihaal ||38||
O Nanak, the Merciful Lord, by His Grace, uplifts and exalts them. ||38||

It sounded like the angels were singing it, i felt truly blessed and grateful, i felt a surge of love flow through me for Babaji, i felt Guru Nanak and Babaji are the same and i felt deeply grateful that we are blessed with naam. Only in the true naam would Guru Nanak come. How lucky!!!! How lucky and blessed............dhan dhan Babaji for the blessing us with the true naam, for constanly supporting us and being patient with us..........

My wonderful Guru, my beautiful Guru, my true Satguru...........i love you deeply with every cell in my body, i yearn for your charan feet.

Guru Nanak then placed his hand on my heart and he filled up our hirda with love and naam.............

Around me their were garlands of flowers falling everywhere, i really felt like waking Jaspal up to say, look can you see them, it's beautiful and amazing..................
He placed a garland around Jaspal, and he said ;
"naanak bhagathaa sadhaa vigaas ||
O Nanak, the devotees are forever in bliss.
suniai dhookh paap kaa naas ||8||
Listening-pain and sin are erased. ||8||"

He said that i am always here, all around you both.........tell Jaspal i am always with him.........

After that i felt myself sliiping into smadhi and i was knocked out for the rest of the night. When i woke this morning, i could still hear the Japji Sahib being recieted in my ears. I have shared this with the sangat because i wanted to share how blessed and lucky we are to have the true naam in this day and age. Please keep doing your simran, good deeds and giving your all to your Guru, your bhagti is all being noticed, nothing ever goes unnoticed, afterall...............it all the Satguru's grace.

Dhan Dhan Par Brahm Parmeshar, Dhan dhan Babaji, dhan dhan Sant Ji, dhan dhan all the Guru''s and bhagats of all ages, dhan dhan sangat ji, dhan dhan dhan satnam.................

Please keep us at your feet, we belong there forever, please forgive us for any mistakes.

All our love

Namjeevan

Sleep and Heart Attacks - Important

Sat Naam Ji

Dandauth Bandhna Ji

Regarding the article below, we agree:

on this path we have struggled to get up at Amrit Vela and over the years have tried various sleep patterns.

We have personally found that lack of sleep has caused us to be very irritable and angry and stressed and tired during the following day.  Also since we have started excercising we have noticed we need to sleep another hour to recover.

It is not eaasy trying to do amritvela and also then to stay awake all day.  We know Dassan Dass ji and others on this path have been blessed and have conquored their sleep and cand o with little sleep.  But what we have fond works best for us is to go to sleep by 9pm and to get up around 3.30 / 4am, which gives enough time to do 2.5 hrs of Simran.   This works better than sleeping at 9pm and getting up at 12.30 to do simran , which we only end up falling asleep in, then going to bed again at 4am till 7am.

Best is to have continuous sleep from 9 to 3.30/4 and do morning amritvela and singing kirtan/gurbani at the end, plus yoga if you have time.  Feel really good and happy after that.

We would advise everyone to listen to their body as well as praying to SatGuru ji for blessings to get up earlier and on a daily basis.

What killed Ranjan Das and Lessons for Corporate India

A month ago, many of us heard about the sad demise of Ranjan Das from Bandra, Mumbai. Ranjan, just 42 years of age, was the CEO of SAP-Indian Subcontinent, the youngest CEO of an MNC in India. He was very active in sports, was a fitness freak and a marathon runner. It was common to see him run on Bandar's Carter Road. Just after Diwali, on 21st Oct, he returned home from his gym after a workout, collapsed with a massive heart attack and died. He is survived by his wife and two very young kids.

It was certainly a wake-up call for corporate India. However, it was even more disastrous for runners amongst us. Since Ranjan was anavid marathoner (in Feb 09, he ran Chennai Marathon at the same time some of us were running Pondicherry Marathon 180 km away), the question came as to why an exceptionally active, athletic person succumb to heart attack at 42 years of age.

Was it the stress?
A couple of you called me asking about the reasons. While Ranjan had mentioned that he faced a lot of stress, that is a common element in most of our lives. We used to think that by being fit, one can conquer the bad effects of stress. So I doubted if the cause was stress.

The Real Reason
However, everyone missed out a small line in the reports that Ranjan used to make do with 4-5 hours of sleep. This is an earlier interview of Ranjan on NDTV in the program 'Boss' Day Out':
Here he himself admits that he would love to get more sleep (and that he was not proud of his ability to manage without sleep, contrary to what others extolled).

The Evidence
Last week, I was working with a well-known cardiologist on the subject of 'Heart Disease caused by Lack of Sleep'. While I cannot share the video nor the slides because of confidentiality reasons, I have distilled the key points below in the hope it will save some of our lives.

Some Excerpts:

·        Short sleep duration (<5 or 5-6 hours) increased risk for high BP by 350% to 500% compared to those who slept longer than 6 hours per night. Paper published in 2009.
As you know, high BP kills.

·        Young people (25-49 years of age) are twice as likely to get high BP if they sleep less. Paper published in 2006.

·        Individuals who slept less than 5 hours a night had a 3-fold increased risk of heart attacks. Paper published in 1999.

·        Complete and partial lack of sleep increased the blood concentrations of High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-cRP), the strongest predictor of heart attacks. Even after getting adequate sleep later, the levels stayed high!!

·        Just one night of sleep loss increases very toxic substances in body such as Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Tumour Necrosis Factor-Alpha (TNF-alpha) and C-reactive protein (cRP). They increase risks of many medical conditions, including cancer, arthritis andheart disease. Paper published in 2004.

·        Sleeping for <=5 hours per night leads to 39% increase in heart disease. Sleeping for <=6 hours per night leads to 18% increase in heart disease. Paper published in 2006.

Ideal Sleep
For lack of space, I cannot explain here the ideal sleep architecture. But in brief, sleep is composed of two stages: REM (Rapid Eye Movement) and non-REM. The former helps in mental consolidation while the latter helps in physical repair and rebuilding. During the night, you alternate between REM and non-REM stages 4-5 times.

The earlier part of sleep is mostly non-REM. During that period, your pituitary gland releases growth hormones that repair your body. The latter part of sleep is more and more REM type.

For you to be mentally alert during the day, the latter part of sleep is more important. No wonder when you wake up with an alarm clock after 5-6 hours of sleep, you are mentally irritable throughout the day (lack of REM sleep). And if you have slept for less than 5 hours, your body is in a complete physical mess (lack of non-REM sleep), you are tired throughout the day, moving like a zombie and your immunity is way down (I've been there, done that L)

Finally, as long-distance runners, you need an hour of extra sleep to repair the running related damage.

If you want to know if you are getting adequate sleep, take Epworth Sleepiness Test below.

Interpretation: Score of 0-9 is considered normal while 10 and above abnormal. Many a times, I have clocked 21 out the maximum possible 24, the only saving grace being the last situation, since I don't like to drive (maybe, I should ask my driver to answer that lineJ)
In conclusion:
Barring stress control, Ranjan Das did everything right: eating proper food, exercising (marathoning!), maintaining proper weight. But he missed getting proper and adequate sleep, minimum 7 hours. In my opinion, that killed him.
If you are not getting enough sleep (7 hours), you are playing with fire, even if you have low stress.
I always took pride in my ability to work 50 hours at a stretch whenever the situation warranted. But I was so spooked after seeing the scientific evidence last week that since Saturday night, I ensure I do not even set the alarm clock under 7 hours. Now, that is a nice excuse to get some more sleep. J

Unfortunately, Ranjan Das is not alone when it comes to missing sleep. Many of us are doing exactly the same, perhaps out of ignorance. Please forward this mail to as many of your colleagues as possible, especially those who might be short-changing their sleep. If we can save even one young life because of this email, I would be the happiest person on earth.

Why you find it difficult to concentrate

Nanak Nirankaar

Sat Naam Ji
Dandauth Bandhna Ji,

it is important to understand that Nanak never called himself God, even though His followers did and still do.
It is important to understand that Guru Gobind Singh ji Himself also said "I am aservant of the Supreme come here to watch the play of the world."
Also Surinder Singh Ji has only ever declared himslef oas "Dassan Dass" meaning servant of God's servants.
And Baba Ji has also said that he is also only SAT RAM DAS - servant of God of Truth.

It is very wrong to start saying that a human being is God.  A Christian friend once told me that Jesus was God.  A Sai Baba friend told me that
Sai Baba Ji is God on Earth.   god is never born and never dies, but the body of men are perishable wether it was Guru Nanak, Jesus, Sai Baba or whoever.

Nanak Nirankaar doesn't mean Nanak is God.  It means God is Nanak.
Just as God is Jesus.
God is Sai Baba.
God is Dassan Dass.
God is Baba Ji.

Baba Ji said that God never enters the Creation i.e. is never born.  But the closest He comes is as manifested light in the heart of His servant.

So please do not say or believe that a person is God, but God is fully manifested in the servant's heart.

Whichever set of followers have believed their own Guru to be God have in the end become narrow minded.  If Christians belieeve Jesus is god then thay are trying to convert the whole world into Jesus followers instead of worshippers of the One God.  If sikhs call Guru gobind singh Ji or Guru Nanak Ddev Ji as God then they have made them into devi-devtas - lesser gods and forget the One True god that actually all of our Gurus and Bhagats and Guru Granth Sahib Ji teach us about.

It is a subtle but important difference.  People in the sangat have started saying "Baba ji is God, or Dassan Dass Ji is God."  But they themselves have never said that, so please do not reduce them to the levels of devi-devtas.  The devi-devtas were the 330 Million blessed souls, who became trapped at lower spiritual levels because they got themselves worshipped as the One God.

We hope you understand the subtle difference.  God is the Greatest, God has manfiested in the heart of our Gurus.  God is our Guru.  God is Baba Nanak, God is Guru gobind Singh Ji, God is Baba Ji, god is Dassan Dass ji.   But none of them is the complete God.

Please forgive our mistakes.

Fwd: Chat with taranjeet singh

Sat Naam Sat Sangat Ji,
Dandauth bandhna ji,
we would like to share a chat we had with Taranjeet ji this morning with Guru ji's kirpa.
Dust of your feet
Harjit

TARANJEET: satnaam we love u jee

just a selfish kuta

HARJIT: we love you too ji!

HARJIT: When Dassan Dass ji asked us to put a donation box on the website, we thought it would put people off as they think we are after money, but money has come and books have been printed, website has been translated so Dasan Dass ji knows what we do not, and we have to trust. So we hope sangat will trust His email about taking this chance to do seva to uplift their soul in this lifetime.

TARANJEET: yes jee he is living God

God in him has taken over him

HARJIT: he is God living in the heart!

TARANJEET: Now no more Surinder jee is there only Dassan Dass is there who him self is Lord

HARJIT: You know "Mr Singh" ji on the email is turning into Dassan Dass ji as well.

TARANJEET: it is the quality of apars paras (philosopher's stone making another philosopher's stone).

HARJIT: He is DHAN DHAN.

He has helped us so much as well.

TARANJEET: yes u are dhan dhan he is dhan dhan dandouth at his feet.

HARJIT: he is a really wonderful soul.

TARANJEET: sant charan maath hamara prabh satguru sada saath tihara

HARJIT: he has grabbed maya by the throat and told ego to shut up

TARANJEET: ek naam sat sada kahara

mit jaaye sab ve mahara

HARJIT: he is shinging radiant like the sun. He asks God for more tests and more seva so he can prove himself again and again.

He is fearless, he is desire free, he is so kind.

TARANJEET: may this worm gets it warmth by grace

HARJIT: he signs his emails - son, slave and servant of Dassan Dass

TARANJEET: dhan dhan

satnaam

satnaam satnaam satnaam

HARJIT: we were feeling tired of seva and simran for a few weeks, he sent us an email saying he sensed animosity from me. We thought we had none, but started thinking about what he said and realised deep down inside our subconscious we resented many things and he was right. We told him our state, he was compassionate and kind, he sent us a beautiful message from Dhan Baba Nanak ji telling us not to dwell in the past, to release our animosity, to do joyous simran and to realise this is our test. We felt warmth and light inside us, like we were being lifted up into the sunshine and the dark clouds were disappearing. Since then we have got a lot better again. We are so blessed in this sangat of swans that Baba Ji calls Sat Naam Parivaar - Sat Naam Family.

We fall down and they pick us up, all we have to do is pray at the holy feet, to tell them the pains and troubles that are holding us back from doing worship of Sat Naam.

TARANJEET: yes u are satnaam family

we are a dog at ur family just feed us left over naam

SatNaam Ji,
Dandauth Bandhna ji.

With Guru Ji's kirpa, we have uploaded the meditation course we ran at our house a few years ago.
There are Level 1 and Level 2 courses with a total of 9 lessons recorded as MP3.

Each lesson has an introductory talk , a guided meditation and a discussion at the end.  If you would like to follow it
you can send me your experiences/questions by email.

You will need a few hours to do each lesson, may Dassan Dass ji bless you to work through it.  It will really help you as it helped those
students who came on the course.

Re: [Truth] thank you to Almighty and to everyone

Sat Naam ji
Dandauth Bandhna Ji,

thankyou for sharing that with us, we are so thankful to SatGuru Ji.
We are thankful to Hema ji too for she has brought you to the Sangat of Sat Naam Sat Guru.
Your compassion for a child's pain has brought God into your heart.
Baba ji says Truth Love and compassion is what we need - TLC.
First there was compassion, then that become love for the Guru and the Guru placed
Truth (Sat Naam) in  your heart.
So this was your journey and it is all thanks to Hema ji.

I will not remain silent in fear of mortals

Sat Naam

Guru Gobind Singh Ji wrote "I will not remain silent in fear of mortals."
When we see fantacism within our own sikh society, we may find it easier to remain silent
or not say anything as we see our self as "peace loving" and dont want to get involved in problems.
However, history shows us what happens if we dont nip fanaticism in the bud.
There are fanatical young Sikhs who became that way due to their prejudices against
other religions eg muslims, and also their pride of their own religion.  On top of which
they are taught Sikhs are being persecuted and are victims of various goverments and
anti-sikh organisations.   Baba ji spoke aout against all of this fanaticism and was himself attacked
by a mob of 500 fantatical Sikhs led by "Punj Pyare" from the Gurdwara.  Baba ji said that
every Saint has to first clean up the religion he was born into eg Jesus and Judaism,
Guru Nanak and Hinduism, Baba ji and Sikhsim.

Read the following and learn how vitally important it is not to stay silent in fear of fantatics in our own society.

Dust of your feet

================

German View of Islam

This is by far the best explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation I have ever read.
His references to past history are accurate and clear. Not long, easy to understand, and well worth the read.
The author of this email is said to be Dr. Emanuel Tanya, a well-known and well-respected psychiatrist.

A German's View on Islam.
A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.
'Very few people were true Nazis,' he said,'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools.
So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come.
My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.' We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace.
Although this unqualified assertion may be true,it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.
The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave.
It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.
It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers. The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people.
The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China 's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.
And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving  Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up,because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs,Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians,Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts--the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand.
So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on!
Let us hope that thousands, world-wide, read this and think about it, and send it on - before it's too late.

Overcome desires for team winning

Sat naam veer ji,

you ahve asked Dassan Dass ji, but we would like to answer you.

You have answered your own question. When you have hopes in the world of Maya then you have either short term happiness
if it happens, or sadness if it doesnt. Gurbani teaches us to put all of our hopes into SatNaam only. Only SatNaam gives us permanent happiness. Anything that causes us sadness, despair or ony temporary happiness is false and yes you are right we have to move our mind away from those things.

Watch these things for fun, dont take them seriously, at the end of the day all sports are invented to keep the mind busy. That's why they are called pastimes ..to pass the time. Its just a group of people chasing a ball all day long - why are you letting it effect your mind? Place your mind at the lotus feet of the SatGuru and pass your time doing SatNaam SatNaam then you will never be sad or disappointed.

Dust of your feet
