Dealing with Past Hurts

Sat Naam Penji, dandauth bandhna ji

it is the nature of the mind to hold on to past hurts and to keep replaying them.  So then we either bury them in the back of our mind and try to stay busy in our life.  But when we sit down and lose our eyes, they are always just under the surface ready to rise up again.

We have had to deal with our own past hurts as well, so have others.

The simplest thing to understand is that your mind is just following this rule "YOU HURT ME, I HATE YOU".

The only cure for ANGER is forgiveness.

Dassan Dass ji teaches us that we all have  the super power of forgiveness in our heart.  It is a divine quality, a quality of SatNaam Himself that he has placed within us.  The more we exercise it, the bigger it gets within us.   All day long when those past hurts arise, just say "I forgive you.  God bless You."

It makes no difference to the other person if you hold grudges and hurts, it only destroys your own peace.  so forgiveness is actually for realising your mind from "YOU HURT ME, I HATE YOU" mentality.   It doesn't mean you have to meet with the other person, it doesn't mean what the other person did was right and somehow by forgiving them you are being weak or letting them get away with it.    You forgive them, it frees you from the past hurts.   But, it doesn;t free the other person from reaping what they have sown - everyone is under the law of KARMA, no one escapes God's Divine Law.  Nor do we wish bad for the other person, just that they have sown bad words with their tongue, or bad deeds , and they will reap accordingly.  So we forgive them and we ask god to bless them, because their beautiful soul is also trapped under the hell of their five thieves.  So we also pray for their soul to be free of their own five thieves.   That is execrcising another divine quality - COMPASSION.

The Dalai Lama escaped from tibet when the chinese invaded, his fellow monks were tortured for many years, one of them escaped and reached the Dalai Lama in India.  Dalai Lama asked him what the worst part of being imprisoned was?  He replied, "the worst time was when I almost lost my compassion for my torturer."

So on the divine path, the worst thing that can happen to us is if we lose these super powers from our heart by NOT execising them in daily life.  The worst part is not being insulted, tormented or even tortured by others.   For a spiritual person losing our reptuation, or our family , or our health, or wealth is not bad,  but losing TRUTH and TRUTH FUL QUALITIES from our heart is losing our connection to God.

Sit in your simran every morning and do the inner cleansing, recit "haumai nahee tuhee tu satnaam (no ego only You Satnaam)"  and first wash your Guru's feet and feel love for Satnaam, then wash feet of people you love/like/work with and feel love for Satnaam, then take that love and wash the feet of those who have hurt you until you only see the Satnaam (soul) in them as well.  Pls do it everyday for as long as it takes to eraase all the animosity within.  We have done this many, many times as well. It really works.

God bless you.
