The True Name is My Support

Q: Don't know when I will get another job since bening made redundant. Try to do naam simran as much s possible in hope that I don't get into maya. Physically I suffer from arthritis. I used to get free treatment since company was paying.  Now have to pay for medication and still there is no relief. It is very depressing.  Let there blessings, being the dust of your feet, SATNAAM.

thankyou for sharing the troubles of your mind.   Ask yourself why do you feel depressed?  Dassan Dass Ji wrote in the Sukhmani explanation that a continuous stream of unfullfilled desires leads to depression.  So what desires are unfullfilled within you?  From your email you mentioned two - good health and having a job.   Things that most people would also desire because having those fulfilled we feel we have a good support for living our life.   However, as you have noticed when those two things go you feel depressed, so the support they gave was false, temporary and illusion. 

 

A few years back we were trying to save every penny and not giving anything as we felt we needed to be financially secure, then we can be at peace.  But that was not the Truth, because there are many people who have much wealth and still feel insecure.  Will Smith the Hollyowod star was on the Oprah show and said even with his riches, he still goes to sleep at night with a worry in the back of his head that he is not secure.

 

Then SatNaam made us realise from within that our belief was not true.  Everyday we  would look out of the bedroom window before starting our amritvela simran.  We would thank the air, the water and the great mother Earth for supporting our body.  We would look at all the houses in the neighbourhood and realise everyone has mortgages to pay so money was important to everyone.  So thank money for supporting our lifestyle.   So the air, the water, the great mother Earth and money were supporting our health and wealth.  But one day SatNaam made us ask ourself, we are thanking them, but who is supporting them? And the answer was that SatNaam KartaPurakh - SatNaam the Creator Being, is supporting the air, the water , the great Mother Earth and money systems that in turn our supporting our human body and lifestyle.

 

So we realised why Dhan Guru Amar Das Ji wrote :

 

Sacha Naam Mera Adharo

The Name of Truth is my support.

So whilst we are still thinking we are secure becuase we have health and wealth or we will be secure when we have health and wealth, then we are still living in illusion, because when we lose them we end up in depression.   So let us take only the support of the Name of Truth - SatNaam and say, "You are my support, even if I lose my health and my wealth, may I never lose your support SatNaam."

 

And the support of SatNaam is true here and hereafter unlike wealth and health.  Also Satguru ji is the kindest and takes care of all our wordly tasks, so keep doing your Naam Simran with full faith that everything is being taken care of.  So then your mind will feel secure and realise that there is nothing to get depressed about.  Also Baba ji said he has had arthritis for 25 years, but even though he heals others, he only says to God, "this body is yours, you can live in it as YOU wish, if you want to have Arthritis then that is fine with me, its all your Hukam."
