When you see a beautiful women or a handsome man or their picture we should look at it as beauty of nature as a creation of Sat Paar BRAHAM Parmesar and should praise it as Sat DI mahima same way as we praise a beautiful flower. This will keep your mind clean from lust and remind you of not indulging in lustful thoughts.
As it is impossible to avoid looking at such creations of god nothing prevents you to praise it in the truthful sense.
Always look at all women except your spouse as daughters sisters and mothers. And for ladies look at all men as sons brothers and fathers expect your spouse. This will save you from the doot of KAAM.
GUR PREETO: also it is a good habit to try and see the beauty of God in everything, even in what the mind is thinking is ugly or disgusting. Eg we saw young disabled children put on a play, instead of focusing on their disabilities we saw how much brightness and joy they had inside playing their roles. Even much more than the other groups who had very pretty actors. So the real beauty starts from the heart. Dhan baba nanak ji wrote that the face that recites God's name is beautiful. Naam makes us beautiful regardless of whether society or our own mind regards our physical features as attractive or not. People have got so obsessed with their bodies nowadays trying to make it beautiful from the outside only that they are going crazy without Naam. Anorexic, obese, bulimia, waxing the whole body, hours on their hair everyday, so much make up, body dismorphia ( they hate parts of their body). Better to get up, and see baba ji in our eyes, say this body and mind is yours baba ji, your naam makes it beautiful, every part is perfect as you made it baba ji, then touch your ams and bless them say satnaam touch your face and bless it say satnaam, bless your whole body and say satnaam. Be kind to your body, be kind to your mind see beauty of satnaam Baba ji in everything, in yourself. And also avoid going the other way, getting proud of your looks, gurbani says the vain person is reborn as worm in excrement (bishta ka jant).
