My Friend, My Guru

He is my Mecca, my Hardwar

My Golden Temple,

My Bodhi Tree.

I place my head 

on His holy feet,

I feel the Amrit energy

washing me -

inside,

This is my River Ganges.

Where ever He stands

is the West,

is the best place

to face

when I say the Holy Name.

And He stands

not in a far off land,

but closer than my hand

nearer than my breath

right inside my chest.

God sits upon His tongue

His supreme divine wisdom

is my Koran, my Gita,

my Bible, my Tora

my Guru Granth Sahib.

I wash my thoughts

with his holy words

my mind is cleaned

my sins are wiped

my load is lightened

He lifts me up

out of the dirt

hugs me close to His heart

never to depart:

My Friend, My Guru

Sat Naam Sat Guru

Sat Naam Tuhee-Tu

Sat Naam Sat Naam.

My Friend, My Guru

Living, Loving, 

Giver of Everything

My Guru, My King

God inside a human skin.
