SatNaam is not in chasing the world

Ik Oankar Satnaam SatGurParsaad

 

With Satnaam SatGuru Baba Ji's kind kirpa, about ten days ago we were blessed with a dream after amritvela.

It was dark all around, we had a feeling someone was asking us "what do you want?"

and we replied, "we dont need anything of the world, just a small space to do your Simran"

and we saw ourself lying inside a wooden crate, very claustraphobic, but before we got scared we asked, "please remove all of our fear."
The following week in our hols we tried doing simran all the time whilst having no desires and just serving family.

We would like to share what we realised.

 

 

SatNaam is not in chasing the world

doing business

buying properties

having everything

but always looking for more.

 

SatNaam is not in sitting at home

avoiding the world

doing nothing

claiming to do Simran

but just getting down.

SatNaam is not in reading

the holy books

or the history books

then preaching

but not actually knowing.

 

SatNaam is not even

in following the discipline

of Simran and Seva 

Still it feels like

the inner doors are closed.

 

Having tried everything

still feeling like I am nowhere

I have learned this lesson

Satnaam is not in my hands.

 

I can never be pure enough

I cannot get up early enough

I cannot sit long enough

and run off to work

and take care of my health

wealth and family.

I am bound by my duties

limited by this body

time is running out

 

I have learned this lesson

Satnaam is not in my hands.

 

So I fall at SatNaam SatGuru's feet

and pray

for all I have now is the prayer in my heart,

in the words of Guru Arjjun Dev ji:

 

"I have not earned penance or meditation or self-restraint nor progress on the path to union.

I do not know the worth of serving the holy ones of God the King,

Nanak says:  O my deeds are so low,

seeking your shelter please protect my honour.

 

Jap tap sanjam dharam na kaamaaiaa

sevaa sadh na jaaniaa har raaiaa

kahu nanak hum neech karanmaa

saran pario kee rakho sharma."

I have learned this lesson

Satnaam is not in my hands,

but I am in SatNaam's hands

that He is taking care of my health,

wealth and family

and only by His SatGuru's Eternal Grace

can I be saved

not by giving up the world

by livnig in the world

with love for SatNaam in every

thought, word and deed.
