Ik Onkar SatNaam KartaPurakh GurParsaad.
Dandauth Bandhna.
Here is what Dassan Dass ji wrote recently to someone who recently started doing SatNaam Simran:
QUESTION: I DONT UNDERSTAND WHETHER I AM HAVING ANY SPIRITUAL BENEFIT OR NOT , OR WHETHER MY KARMAS ARE BEING PAID OFF AND MOREOVER I AM NOT GETTING THE SOUND / LIGHT OR ANY OTHER SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE.
DASSAN DASS JI'S REPLY: Light and sound is not really light and sound so to speak, light is param jyot puran parkash and sound is anhad shabad heard in dassam duaar. Please don't desire for anything, behave like an innocent person, be innocent, innocence will win you all the eternal treasures. This is a very high spiritual state which is achieved after the opening of dassam duaar. There is no timing that can be predicted or should be predicted for any such achievements, just continue to do satnaam simran and things will happen by themselves.
So how do we "behave like an innocent person, be innocent, innocence will win you all the eternal treasures." The easiest way to understand what innocence is ito read the story of the Bhagats and expecially the story of Bhagat Dhanna ji.
"Dhanna served the Lord, with the innocence of a child.
Meeting with the Guru, Trilochan attained the perfection of the Siddhas.
The Guru blessed Baynee with His Divine Illumination.
O my mind, you too must be the Lord`s slave. ||5||"

Bhai Gurdas Ji wrote the following about Bhagat Dhanna ji
A Brahmin used to worship idols
And Dhanna went out to graze cows;
When Dhanna saw this all
He put queries to Brahmin who said: '
We who serves the Lord Gets fulfilled all desires of his heart;
Dhanna made supplication to him:
'Give me one (Idol) if it pleases thee
Brahmin wrapped a stone in cloth
And gave it to Dhanna to get rid of him,
Dhanna first bathed the stone,
Then offered food and butter-milk;
He prayed with folded hands, and
Prostrated to persuade it accept the offer;
I will not eat a morsel-
Food I relish not if Thou art annoyed.'
God appeared before the Dhanna,
Accepted the offering he made;
Innocent love of Dhanna
Thus united him into the Lord.

A hymn by Guru Arjan Dev included in the Guru Granth Sahib on page 487 narrates the same incident. The concluding two verses of this hymn are as follows;
"Listening to such happenings,
the poor Jat Dhanna too in devotion engaged.
The Lord to him manifested Himself--
Such was Dhanna's good fortune."
