how far are you in your bhagti?

people may say to you that you are very advanced in bhagti, or even your ego may like to think you are further than others, but we really need constantly feel that we are just at the beginning.  In fact, Pritam Anand ji said to us that when anyone asks where are you in your bhagti, just reply, " we are just at the beginning."   And its not false modesty, in a way it is true, because God is Infinite, so no matter how much we love Him,  there is infinite amount of love waiting for us to discover!!  Like an ant standing infront of the ocean, she may have enjoyed a drop, other ants who cant see the ocean may think that ant is advanced, so lucky.  However, that ant who can see the Ocean knows the Truth.  So we are always at the beginning relative to God.  However, our ego likes to compare ourself to others around us, and that is when it starts thinking "I am much further than others."  (Or on the negative side, it tells us "you are so far behind everyone else after all these years - you should give up" or it makes us feel jealous of others who are further ahead.) That is the kind of thinking we are trying to avoid, only ego makes comparisons, so lets not compare ourself to others in bhagti. So we pray "make everyone else into a Sant and keep us washing their feet and dusting their shoes."
